That would kill some of the waiting time. One of his last emails was to Judith Miller. What a strange coincidence! Shortly after he wrote it he was found dead, in the woods.

After his death, in July 2003, the BBC confirmed that Dr Kelly had indeed been the source of the Today programme report claiming the government had "sexed up" its dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction .

Lord Hutton concluded in his report published in January that Dr Kelly, 59, had killed himself by cutting his left wrist after taking co-proxamol painkillers.

There was no evidence that any third party had been involved, he said.

But those findings have been challenged by some medical specialists, three of whom have said it was "highly improbable" Dr Kelly bled to death from a self-inflicted wound to his wrist.

Democracy fears

Trauma specialist David Halpin, anaesthesiology specialist Searle Sennett and Stephen Frost, a specialist in diagnostic radiology, voiced their concerns in a letter to the Guardian newspaper.

I should avoid certain threads involving certain people, considering...no I'd better NOT go any further.

Some people have no manners at all. You know, you answer something, and IN your answer it contains EXACTLY the thing...and then 2 minutes later SOMEBODY just goes RIGHT OVER the answer and says "oh it was about THIS" and 2 minutes EARLIER you've JUST pointed that out.

So what's the damn use. There's NO use, that's what.

8. They were probably composing their reply when you posted yours

Here's a rough time sequence, that happens to all of us:

1) 1st post in topic appears, with link to other site
2) person A sees it at, say, 0900. They follow the link, and take 2 minutes to read it.
3) person B sees it at 0902. They also take 2 minutes to read the link.
4) at 0902, A starts composing their reply, which takes a minute.
5) At 0903, A's reply appears on DU as reply #1.
6) At 0904, B starts composing their reply. They do not bother refreshing the DU page, because none of us do. If we did, DU would need a lot more net bandwidth. So they have not seen reply #1.
7) At 0905, B's reply appears on DU, containing exactly the same information as A.

When there's just a couple of minutes between the posts, this is almost certainly what happened. It's when there's more time than it would take to read the whole thread, plus its links, that it gets annoying. And that happens to most of us as well. You just have to go with it.

It will be ironic if someone has replied similarly to me while I've been composing this.

5. I do worry about some people...

especially those that seem to know quite a bit, and try to make things better. I guess if they already have told someone much of what they know, and it would be too obvious if they died mystriously- then hopefully they wil be OK. Nothing would surprise me as far as members of the Bush regime are concerned.
My blog is being freeped constantly by a very hateful person.

6. I wish we knew a little more about their correspondence.

I wonder if she was pretending to support him through that whole ordeal he went through in the Parliament. I wonder if she was passing on information to others about what he was saying privately. I wonder if his wife knows. I am sure anyone who DOES know is afraid to talk.

...than what anyone was letting on, I figure.

I swear I remember seeing Tony Blair turn white at a press conference when asked about Dr. Kelly's death -- does anyone else remember that? It made me think, wow, he knows something. His reaction was very telling. I remember thinking -- is he worried for his own safety? or is he worried about being exposed? or is he just coming to grips with the reality of the shadow government types -- the "dark actors" that Dr. Kelly had mentioned in his email to Judy Miller just days before his death?
