I HATE the local power company.
It is a long, sad, tale, so let's just say they promised I could make a payment today and disconnected my power this morning ANYWAY (at 10:30). A payment (as a show of good faith;not even actually required)and TEN phone calls later at 10:30 TONIGHT in the FIFTY DEGREE HOUSE with my 22Month old son who just had a FEVER FROM GETTING THE FLU SHOT my power has FINALLY been restored. Their mistake, my suffering.
Now, before you think I am complaining about something that isn't that bad, you must understand that my anger comes from the fact that (for ONCE) I did absolutely nothing wrong. These fucking corporate monopolies just piss me off beyond all reason. Please also do not lecture me about the alternate energy route; I have already planned to install solar panals WHEN I can afford them(there is a tax credit here in NC when I do!).
My child has suffered today, and heads will fucking roll. I shudder to think how I would feel if I were Cindy Sheehan or anyone in New Orleans. At the risk of sounding trivial, I wanted to ask one of the lovely condesending people I tried so hard to be civil to today, if they were training for a FEMA job.
Shit.
Gonna go count my blessings now..............

2. It could be worse.
You could be in a hospital somewhere and face the same level of incompetence.

I am glad that you have your power restored and I hope the little guy is warm, well and making you smile.

I hate to say it, but it's going to get a lot, lot, worse.

3. Oh; you are so right.
I know it seems like I am crying over nothing compared to what many have to deal with, but I call BS when I see it and NOBODY messes with my baby. NOBODY.
I am hoping we can afford some alternate energy sources soon...; I fear you are correct.

4. We have a cold weather rule here in Minnesota
They are required to keep your heat on between Oct 15 - April 15 as long as you call and make payment arrangements. However, I understand some people got cut off last year anyway in spite of this. So even here with a clear law in place, shit can happen.

Sorry you had to go through this. Hope your baby is ok.

5. So sorry and glad you got your power back on. I am livid that your child
had to spend endure one minute of discomfort because of these GREED PIGS! I hope you make heads roll over this outrage!

7. They usually don't turn it off unless it's at least 60 days past due

8. I had a payment arrangement
As I said, it is a long story; gist of it is that I spent an hour yesterday on the phone and was assured that I would meet the requirements of the arrangement by paying today. That agreement (a RECORDED phone call) was not honored. The supervisors today admitted to me that it was their mistake. Lots of other factors.....

9. You are not the only one! I was late a couple of times this summer due to
various reasons including both mine and my husbands cars were not running at the same time (his broken steering column, mine ignition locked up and I couldn't turn the car on).

Now they want a two months deposit (which in my case is nearly $400.00).

I'm damned if I'm going to give it to them. We've had this account for over 27 years and they have never had to turn off our electricity. And I don't think they can legally turn off the power if I keep paying the bill for the electricity used. If they do, I'm gonna raise Caine.

Hope your baby is feeling better.
