Rove still trying to sleaze out of it
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/26/AR2005102600532.html

Even as Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald wrapped up his case, the legal team of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has been engaged in a furious effort to convince the prosecutor that Rove did not commit perjury during the course of the investigation, according to people close to the aide. The sources, who indicated that the effort intensified in recent weeks, said Rove still did not know last night whether he would be indicted.

8. Sure looks that way but watch your back
I can't help but think some disinfomation is going on. Even if I can't prove it. Deception and dirty tricks are Rove's specialty. Who is to say he is not pulling the same thing here.
If his lawyers are arguing that furiously, then it would stand to reason that they are going to do verything they can do to keep this from trial. If Patrick Fitzgerald is anything close to how he is described it would also seem likely that he does have a solid case and the grand jury will indict. If Rove winds up in court, conviction or not, he's sunk.

My two cents.

2. Rove now tries to prove...
... that a pattern of lying and dirty dealing for his entire life doesn't mean he didn't lie to the grand jury....

It's a real shame when your reputation precedes you--if you've got a reputation like Karl's. :)

6. He is going to have several charges. He will not spin this one away.
I am sure Fitz reads the Post. These are my bets: Obstruction, perjury, subornation of perjury, intimidating witnesses, conspiracy.

9. I read this as Fitzgerald has alerted Rove's attorney of an
indictment or two. And now that's why the attorney's are furiously trying to persude Fitzgerald there must be some kind of mistake, Rove wouldn't knowingly do whatever he is charged of doing.

10. Does that mean Rove could get off by saying
"Hey, I didn't know it was illegal!". I mean could Rove plead ingorance to the charge if indicted? Do the prosecutors also have to prove that outing Valerie Plame was known as an illegal act by those who committed it?
I think it's highly unlikely that Rove didn't know it was illegal but I do wonder about technicallities.
