I, for one, hope that Bush keeps Miers... |
|
As long as she keeps her lame shit up, the Senate will have no qualms about rejecting her cronyfied ass.
It should teach the Shrub a lesson about the fucked up people that he nominates.
Blood is in the water, baby!

The longer it goes on the more obvious she is unqualified. Bush is likely hold out against withdrawing her until it is too late and she flunks a vote in the committee or in the Senate. Even if he withdraws her, or perhaps especially, I think Bush may nominate Gonzales for three reasons: 1) He's Bush's crony, 2) Bush can say FU to anti-torture progressives, 3) Bush can say FU to anti-choice conservatives. Go for it!
If Fitzmas fireplace heat is too great, Shrub might yank Miers as a way to suck oxygen out of the room.

3. Hooray for Harriet! Let's help her get confirmed. |
|
I mean it!
Reason One: From her recently released speeches, she seems to be almost reasonable on issues like Choice and Affirmative Action. It's doubtful that liberals could hope for a more moderate justice out of Bush.
Reason Two: The fact that she's a lightweight works in our favor. Since she's not a passionate idealogue, she might prove to be a lot more open-minded. Who knows? - She may even have a heart.
Reason Three: The right wing will never forgive Bush for naming someone who is not (sufficently) anti-choice and anti-liberal. She will be Junior's Souter -- which will cost the rethugs big on election day.
Reason Four: Now that Miers' support in the GOP is waning, it's time for Democrats to call for an "up or down vote" on Bush's nominee. Dems can make big speeches about how the president ought to get the appointees he names, and how we shouldn't waste any more time filling this important vacancy -- in short, all the arguments the wingnuts have used against us for years and years. With all Democrats ready to vote for Miers, the right wing's only hope will be that Republicans WON'T support her. Of course, some will -- which should help widen the rift we're already seeing in the party.
