Have you ever said about ANY President "We have to support our President?"
Like he's some sort of god that needs to be worshipped?

I think this is the fundamental difference between Dems and Repugs: Dems are more capable of differentiating between the man and his policies and sometimes (more often than not)Dems are pretty vocal in NOT supporting a Democratic President.

The whole notion that I HAVE to support THE PRESIDENT offends me and I couldn't utter that phrase without gagging

2. I think our parents and grandparents may have said that
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 06:45 AM by OhioBlues
I think this is where people get confused. My ex is a repuke and his biggest excuse for voting * was "you never change presidents during a time of war". WHAT!!! He told my son this came from his father who fought in WWII. You see why he's an ex huh. :banghead:

3. No
I don't think that way. I think the government should support the people in protecting them, the constitution, and their rights.

5. Never.
If the president is doing wrong, I call him out. It doesn't matter if it's a Republican or Democratic president. I criticized Clinton for not getting involved in stopping the genocide in Rwanda and for putting himself in a situation that got him in trouble for lying about a blowjob.

And I've been criticizing this current "president" since before he was anointed "president".

9. No, it's another empty slogan to that implies you are a
no-good child molesting egg-stealer if you don't agree with it... Makes my teeth hurt, along with "we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here."

10. Supporting a President would be fine if we had one
No one should support a fraudulent administration that is leading us down the wrong path. I will choose the high road every time and abandon the knucklehead in chief.

A National Guard fella had to remind me that they follow the Commander in Chief and I had to remind him that following one that is leading the country to hell does not need to be followed. The dickhead doesn't even belong in that office and all of his minions are some of the worst that could ever be appointed.

13. It's the country, not the pres
It's the country and our freedom, democracy (such as it is) that we need to support - no matter what; not any individual.
This moron that has been propped up by the neo-cons is not a king, although he thinks he is. The flag is not the symbol of the republicans or of the president; it's the symbol of our freedom - and we need to take it back. Rip the flag pin off a repug today!!

14. In North Korea, they say "We have to support our Glorious Leader"
Until the end of the war, the Japanese said "We must support our God-on-Earth, His Majesty the Emperor".

Of course, sticking with their glorious leader during wartime didn't do much for the Japanese-- or the Germans, for that matter.

16. I've only been alive for four, but no.
I hate that idea that we "have to support" the leader. It is a fascist notion that is used only by those who don't like to think. The day there isn't opposition to a president in this country is the day our democracy dies.

17. Nope. I was (and remain) one of Clinton's biggest critics
I voted for him twice (the second time holding my nose tightly). There were things I supported him on, but there were things he did that I was vocally opposed to.
