Recommended book
If you are interested in the Middle East, I highly recommend the novel "The Kite Runners" by Khaled Hosseini. It puts a human face on the news from that part of the country, and does so without spin.

1. I read The Kite Runners several months back and it was wonderful
Have recommended to several friends and family. Beautifully written it weaves a story of a family, their heritage, the conflict and insight into a Middle Eastern society. Four stars.

2. You know I just don't ever identify
with an area or a political situation unless it is put into human terms for me, and this books does it well.

3. I saw the author give a talk on C-SPAN2 a week or so back, it does
sound like a great book, and is on my list of things to read when I have time.

4. I'm reading that
book right now. Excellent! I highly recommend it. Hosseini is a word-master. He uses such great metaphors. For example, and this is not a direct quote mind you. While escaping Kabul, he's riding in an oil truck with his father and says his eyes burn, "as if someone turned my eyelids inside out and rubbed them with a lemon". The book is great! I can't wait to finish it.
