Babs and Pappy Bush : Losers in THE 2005 World Series
Joe Bush and Tim McCarver described the fan base of South Side Chicago as the working class. The stock yard workers, Factory workers. The working class.
VS
Quite clearly the opposite: The Houston Astros who's two main fans were sitting in the stands at Minute Maid Stadium rooting them on. The "Stros" represented the Bushes and the the rest of the Bushes base: the white ,wealthy businessman.
It was great to see the Bush's NOT get their way for a change. No vote tampering allowed. Just pure raw exceptional play by the opposition.

HotDog:$5.50
Beer: $8.00

Seeing the agony of defeat on BOTH Bushes Faces?
PRICELESS!

1. I will miss the excitement of watching the games
this week - but it sure was hard to not grind my teeth every time the camera shot of the batter included that WOMAN in the frame too.

Arrrrgggh.

So, I guess I am saying I really enjoyed your post this morning!!

:)

2. That's complete unadulterated bullshit and absolutely not true
As someone that went to Houston Colt 45's vs. San Antonio Missions MINOR LEAGUE AA games that's complete BULLSHIT and you don't have a single clue. There's countless thousands more just like me here in Texas.

11. They were just fans like everyone else

There is no politics in baseball. There is no Democrat or Republican or liberal or conservative. When it comes to enjoying the game everyone is equal (ticket prices not withstanding). It may be my team against your team. But baseball is about the last damn thing in this country left like that. (Cut to Terrence Mann's description of baseball!)

Poppy and Babs are at the Astros games more often than not. In fact, where they were sitting is not where they have sat in the past. They usually sit on the other side of the aisle in about seat 3 and 4.

14. "There is no politics in baseball." If that's the case, then why was I
rooting my ass off for the White Sox, a team that I clearly don't give two shits about? The ONLY reason I loved this World Series was because it was sooo sweet watching the Astros getting their asses kicked...the team that the Bushes love. Anything they like, I don't!

Go Sox! Yeah, baby! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

4. Looked like poppy Bush was napping until the White Sox scored in
the 8th. He sure looked like he was napping or examining a score card for a very long time.

5. "Well, that's worked out alright for them!"
"So many of the Astros here, you know, sucked anyway, so this is working very well for them..."

6. Oh I think that is a rather broad
generalization. I am sure the Astros have many working class fans. I was rooting for the White Sox because they were the sentimental favorite and because the coach is Latino, like me. But I never thought the Astros were a team of the elite. People say that about Yankee fans too and I'm sure other teams. You just can't generalze like that, especially in big cities where the population is so complex.

7. OY
I wanted the ChiSox to win, but I think this identification of sports teams with a political position is just about as stupid as can be. As if there are no working class and poor and Democratic Astros fans. Yucky.

8. It was great to see the Bu$h`s faces as their team was shutout and swept
up by the world champion Chicago White Sox. I could not root for the Astro`s. Even though a seven game series is nice to see. Not with the TV camera always showing those evil Bu$h`s. I am glad they lost. And I do not have to suffer through their smug mugs any longer than I had to.
Peace

9. Just the pure fact that they were in Houston was reason enough for me
to root for the Sox. And I did. My husband said I was daft; but I rooted anyway, even though they beat my fave Cardinals in the playoffs.

15. babs put a Pox on the Astros..
Sorry, Astro fans!

The Symbolism of Chicago(Fitzgerald) against Houston(bushes) is astounding!

A SHUTOUT!

And the manager of the Sox mentioned "Venezeula" when he was being interviewed after the Shutout..didn't catch exactly what he said, though?

Kinda like a knife to the bushes.
