The Harriet nomination was a plant all along to divert att. from Fitzmas.
There's no other explanation---What??? you think it's a coincidence she stepped down on the very day that Fitz is expected to indict.

9. Agreed. This is not big enough to distract from Plamegate.
But, now I have hope the Indictment(s) will be coming soon since they are trying to distract.

25. It had to have been a ploy. They put forward someone
totally unqualified, have her withdraw her name, then slip Priscilla Owen in because she has so much "experience" on the bench. The committee will be so happy to see Owen, they will automatically back her. Rove may be in trouble with the special counsel, but he still has been infected with the liar syndrome. He has not lost his deviousness.

4. I COMPLETELY AGREE
Maybe I'm cynical, but everything this administration does has either been a smoke screen for a) the Iraq disaster b) the extreme mishandling of Katrina or c) the coming indictments

Especially if * asked her to wait until the indictments were handed down. Maybe she was tiring of being his sacrificial lamb.

10. No- if Fitzmas is today then it is a REALLY BAD day for the Bush admin.
She did too much political damage to his credibility and judgement for her just to be a diversion. If she was meant as a diversion then they are REALLY loosing their judgement big time.

Also.. it's really Iraq that's off the burner.

Even Plamegate overshadows Iraq.

We need over a thousand Cindy Sheehans.. now!

13. If It Was, It Failed Miserably
Yesterday, all I heard on hate radio was Harriet, Harriet, Harriet. This seemed to keep the flying monkeys real distracted from the sword of Fitzgerald hanging over their heads.

If anything, the Fitzgerald announcements will help mute the withdrawl of Miers...that's a far greater personal slap and embarassment at the chimpster...and as we know, in his world that's all that matters.

I'm bummed...I was looking forward to seeing Dobson called to testify in the confirmation hearings and then Harriet's Twilight Zone testimony. Oh well...guess we'll have to deal with a Janice Rogers Brown instead.

But it won't matter...this government is all but at a halt...all three branches and their scandals will make it very difficult to get much stuff done. Welcome to the post-Fitzmas world.

14. Bad smell to this from day one. Not sure why though. Suspect it might
have to do with the next nomination. Also timing was odd, but not strong enough to pull attention away from the potential indictments. But a new nomination might.

15. Here is my post from yesterday, a set up that pissed me off to no end
"She HAD to know she was in no way qualified to serve in this position. I mean, I would love to play the piano, but my tinkering on the keys does NOT qualify me for a position in the symphony.

Now, like the idiot she is, she has destroyed any chance at all for the next nominee (cause it will not be her) to be anything other than an ultra conservative white male (or almost white anyway), which was the whole point of this set up. Does anyone here even THINK this decision was made by Georgie himself? You know Karl arranged this appointment, so you know it had devious/ulterior intentions.

As a woman, stupid shit like this piss me off beyond belief.

I better stop now."

17. No, not for Fitzmas. She was stalking horse for real nominee: Gonzales?
Miers was not a plant to to divert attention from Fitzmas. Otherwise, they would have released the news tomorrow or Saturday, AFTER indictments are issued.

She was a stalking horse for the real nominee, meaning that she gets put up and shot down so Bush can nominate either Gonzales, who he really wants to nominate, or some hard right nut. Bush's thinking (limited though it is) would be that if she got confirmed, no problem for Bush.

33. You should see the "just lost a puppy" look on repukes faces at work!!
Trust me, this is not a memorable moment for them. Public opinion is a huge issue for a political party, if this were somehow a stunt, it's of the poorest design I could ever imagine. The Repukes here at work are practically suicidal and NOBODY takes the administration seriously any more. He's toast without Rove. Burnt toast at that...
