Outrage at pump:record oil co. profits/D Kucinich-"They're just stealing"
Outrage at the pump as oil companies post huge quarterly profits

http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=42568

CLEVELAND - There was outrage at the gas pump today as motorists learned that the major oil companies posted huge, record breaking quarterly profits.

BP announced they made $6.5 billion in profits during the summer months when gas was $3 a gallon...

"They're just stealing from the American public and everyone knows it," said Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

Congressman Kucinich wants to see a windfall profits tax put into place. He says that would take the financial incentive out of gauging the consumer. Senator DeWine is in favor of having the oil companies re-invest those profits to produce more oil.

1. "They're just stealing." Once again DK speaks the truth.
Let's hope it doesn't take years before "leading Democrats" figure out Kucinich is right.

"Senator DeWine is in favor of having the oil companies re-invest those profits to produce more oil."

Well, of course he is!!! More oil produced means more profits for the oil companies! I'm not surprised at all to hear a Repuke senator make such a statement, whether he's a moderate or not.

Good for Kucinich for standing up for the truth, even though it's already obvious to most of us here. :applause:

6. Windfall profits tax in past?
Like I said in another thread... I might be getting senile, but didn't there used to be a windfall profits tax on the oil industry? Was it revoked when the rethugs took power?
