Houston Chron: Possible new candidates for court vacancy
Out of the frying pan and into this smoldering heap.

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/3420151

There are several names (and bio blurbs) that I don't recognize, but the real freak shows are Owens, Brown, Gonzales, Olsen, Estrada and Luttig.

Clements is probably the most confirmable, though she's no picnic.

1. Same Rogues Gallery as before, plus Olsen
Olsen is safest on the face of it, but hemay not be appointed because of things he might know about the Hunting of Clinton and connections between starr and the Right wing enterprise.

5. I doubt he'll choose Olsen. He's 64, and I heard they wanted
a younger person on the court. If they finally get their dream RWer, they want him/her there for a very long time!

I was actually very surprised at the Miers nomination because SHE was 60!

10. Olson's a freak.
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 11:44 AM by longship
He's the husband of that mealy-mouthed Barbara Olsen who poisoned the airwaves with her opinions on Faux, CNN, etc. throughout Clinton and the 2000 debacle. She's gone (on plane that crashed into Pentagon on 9/11), but her husband was the lawyer who argued Bush v. Gore at the Supreme Court and has been Bush Solicitor General.

This guy is a fundy lunatic freak. He must be kept off the court at all costs.

3. Conseravtives are already screaming for
Janice Rogers Brown

This woman is radical...but it does put Democrats in a bad place

I think he nominates her that there should be a big fight.

If he nominates Alberto Gonzales or other Conservative moderate then I think the Pres shoul have an easy approval.

4. It wouldn't really put us in a bad place
Janice Rogers Brown has a nutty record and it would be very easy to attack her.

6. There you go inserting login and rationality in the process!!
I don't think either will be part of the confirmation process. This is going to be a Pub power play!

7. Even for a conservative she's out there
I believe she's on record claiming that Social Security is unconstitutional.
