"The Oil Factor:" Be aware of this movie and spread the word.
Last night after our vigil for the 2000 US service dead in Iraq, we went inside and watched a screening of The Oil Factor, a compelling documentary that connected many dots for me about the whole PNAC plan and Peak Oil. In attendance was Gerard Ungermann, the creator of this film, who spoke about his program of grass-roots screenings and open distribution.

4. Oil is the Issue---- that's why we are wrecking our economy and in Iraq

If you haven't read all of the drivel or pompous prose that is "PNAC" - read through all of that mind numbing cap. Here's a link-- .

What is "PNAC"? "PNAC" is all about OIL. When you get past William Kristol's mental masturbation and wet dreams - it is a collection of well over a hundred boring, pompous, turgid "analyses" from the "Project For the New American Century" think tank. Disregarding the Kristol contributions it is about projecting American power in a monopolar world to protect American hegemony over "resources" (i.e., OIL).

Like Jack Nicholson said to Tom Cruse in A Few Good Men:

(Jack Nicholson) Jessep: You want answers?

(Tom Cruse) Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to them.

Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee: I want the truth!

Jessep: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...

You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

We Americans don't want the truth because deep down in our heart of hearts you know what the truth is:

    * America's gluttony for SUV's driven by big butt suburban soccer moms taking spoiled kiddos to soccer games.

    * Our fear of the "dirty" and "evil" and "corrupt" urban environment with its violence and crime and drugs and deteriorating amenities.
      - Our love affair with single family houses, in remote suburbs, far from transit, shopping, work, and schools, necessitating mnultiple car families.

    * The fear ever since 1980 with Ronald "It's Morning In America" Reagan's roll back of Jimmy Carter's Energy Program that Corporate Average Fuel Economy is the sancrosanct Third Rail of American Politics.
      - The folk wisdom that SUV's are necessary to keep GM and Ford out of "Junk Bond" Status.

      - The folk wisdom that SUV's are necessary to enable GM and Ford and Chrysler to pay pensions, retiree health benefits, and active employee health benefits.

-The folk wisdom that SUV's are necessary to "protect" the jobs of America's auto workers (we would do a better job of "protecting" those jobs with "single payer, universal health insurance" divorced from the work place.

      - The folk wisdom that SUV's are necessary to keep Delphi out of Chapter XI.

    * The "blind faith" "folk knowledge" that "we" will never run out of oil.

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson "You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that demands more oil then we " control"-- and we are running out of oil -- and the PNAC idea is to "protect our oil" by using American kids with guns."

Oh? APIPAC - its the

And, I may not be marching lock step to some drummers - but I have had 30+ years in the energy industry -- and I am blogging about it at http://thinkersunderground.blogspot.com>
