Remember the info about Cheney buying a multi-million $ house somewhere near DC? I would think, especially near the gov't buildings in DC, reporters, and snoopers are watching this kind of stuff all the time.
Heck, I'm about a disconnected as they come, and a couple of years ago there was all kind of questions flying around about what business was going to build on a certain parcel of land near here. Rumors were flying, but "nobody knew ANYTHING!"
I met a lady at a Dean meetup who just volunteered the info during the course of normal conversation. She worked for the water company!
Stuff like that gets out, and you never know for sure just how.
