Alan Dershowitz on Jerry Springer: Doesn't approve of indictments
on "Policy differences". I kind of respect Dershowitz, so Honestly and seriously now, HOW are these indictments on policy differences?

Is it because we are supposed to believe that even though some people in the WH were involved in something, un-intentional or otherwise, that exposed Valeria Plame, they believed the documents were real?

I'm really trying to understand how Dershowitz can say that.

1. Because he wants the "war on terror"
and is scared people may figure out what it really is.

2. Didn't know Dersh was a GOP spinner
For an attorney, he's pretty damned stupid if he thinks this is about "policy differences". Fricking lawyer..

8. I watched him rationalize it on a talk show
when the war in Iraq started. Couldn't believe he'd think it was justified. Guess he has a mean streak.

Likes torture as long as the victims are muslims. Totally conflicted with his hardline likudnik foreign policy views and his progressive liberal domestic views. Asshat.

have a policy about enforcing them. ;)

9. Policy Differences?
WTF? The real Dershowitz has been replaced by a pod person.
Lying to make a case for war is not a policy difference.
I once heard Dershowitz advocate torture as well.

12. Wouldn't a good prosecutor deal with what they knew about those
documents? otherwise, even with the deliberate outing of Plame, it does become just a difference in policy.

he jumped into the O.J. Simpson circus for reasons unknown...on SIMPSON'S side. The man was SO clearly guilty, and it wasn't as though he didn't already have adequate legal representation; it's almost like Dersh did it for the sport of it, or an ego thing. Disgusting. Screw Alan Dershowitz.

14. It may be that he is like my husband, a Libertarian attorney, who
believes that the Process of the "Law" takes priority over EVERYTHING else, so we must tolerate even when the guilty go free in order to keep from violating the Process.

15. Dershowitz has become Hitchens-like
Maybe Dershowitz isn't a sot like Christopher Hitchens ... but since 9/11, he has kind of become the Hitchens of legal commentators.

I have about zero use for him anymore.

19. This case has to do with two extremely important points...
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 12:46 PM by 8_year_nightmare
That a presidency outed one of its own covert agents, making her a target with enemies of the U.S., along with destroying the confidence of all other active covert agents;

That the People & Congress were lied to in order for * to get the war he wanted so desperately with Iraq.

This isn't about policy differences. I think Dershowitz is basing this statement on RW spin, that the investigation is being used as a "political strategy" & he's anticipating that this case will be a precedent for future political strategy. He's forgetting that it was the CIA who asked for an investigation, which has nothing to do with politics.

He used the "criminalization of politics" talking points on Fox yesterday. I believe it was on Cavuto. He was playing footsy with Ann Coulter. Pretty disgusting.

22. I used to admire Dershowitz somewhat but
I've slowly moved away from having any admiration for him. Because he is Jewish (his reason, not mine) he feels very strongly about the "war on terror" so he has been in full support of all these bogus policies of the * admin. He also has not condemned the torture policies.

As far as the OJ Simpson trial... A friend of mine was in his class at Harvard Law School (I think he teaches as an adjunct or something) and he explained to his class that one of the reasons he took that case was because Simpson could pay lots of money and the more money he made from individuals who could afford to pay, the more he could take indigent cases pro bono.

27. Zionists don't care that the president lied us into war.
The war was in Isreal's interests. Some say the entire PNAC was a creation of the Mossad in order to influence the US into doing what was in their interests.
