I have always thought that GW was out to prove something to Poppa, leaving nothing but failure in his wake. At one point, he was shunned by his parents for a year because of his drinking, so that could also be part of it (even though he probably deserved the "tough love" stance they took). It just seems something happened during his childhood. Maybe that's why he's so gung-ho over his No Child Left Behind program...maybe he was one.

It all boils down to the fact he is a sad and sorry example of a man and will always fit in better with the good ol' boys--no one expects much out of them. It don't take no smarts or book larnin' and it ain't hard werk to be one.

4. Regression to the mean and the Oedipus complex

In genetic science, it is well known that when two exceptionally intelligent people mate, their offspring will have more average intelligence--they'll "regress to the mean." DUHbya could be the poster boy for regression to the mean (not to mentiion simple regression and simple meanness.) He's on a tricycle trying to keep up with Daddy's tenspeed.
