I knew it was over for Bush when |
|
He issued that barest lame ass shiftless forced by someone or else appology for "the government and his part" after Katrina. That was the sign he was toast. Because if you fashion yourself as Tony Soprano it means never having to say you are sorry. And that means NEVER. Gotcha. It was the sign he was on his way out. They told him he wasn't the boss anymore.

After Katrina, any remaining veneer of respectability clinging to Bush was very effectively washed away.

2. Terri Schiavo was the tipping point |
|
at least in retrospect. All of the lunatics came out from under the floorboards and Chimpy pandered to them so shamelessly. That was the first thing that gave Joe Sixpack and Jane Winecooler a look at what was behind the Rovian mask.
Katrina then started the seesaw going down dramatically.

3. Guess we'll soon meet "the new boss, same as the old boss" |

I really love it when a song lyric comes into play.

I get the feeling that the neocon/PNAC hardliners have had it with Bush. He's toast.
Bush was elected because he had the name, the likable personality and that fake Texas charm. He was electable. He wasn't even one of the PNAC signatories. That should tell us all something about the behind-the-scenes comedy that must go on, "Ok, evil people--we need a poodle to entertain the folks and win them over. This person must be as pliable as a Snicker's in the Sahara, so we can call the shots. Anyone got a name?"
These warmongers selected Bush, but now he's become a liability.
Remember the posts about Libby's letter to Miller? He mentioned that the "Aspens had turned...and they turned in clusters." Someone else on DU figured out that Lib was referring to the Aspen Conference in Colorado several weeks ago. Robert Novak wrote a column about this conference. Until this year, no one was permitted to write anything about this annual Aspen Conference that is attended by many conservative elites. Novak wrote in his column that Bush's friends were very unhappy with him, and no longer his friends. In effect, they had "turned". That column was a shot in the face to Bush--reminding him that he's not really in control--they are.
Also, Lib's note to Miller signals to me that Lib was telling Judy that it's ok to turn against BushCo. She can talk, because everyone has "turned" against them and they've all (clusters) turned, so there's no use rotting in jail or protecting those who are no longer liked. That's one reason I think that AT LEAST Cheney is going down. Possibly Bush too.
After the Aspen Conference and Novak's column, who does Bush nominate--his little friend and someone that the hard liners of the party would hate. Bush is at war with this party. A very serious war. The Meirs nomination was a "fuck you" to the conservative/neocon elites. He was acting out and pulling a power play, after they collectively dissed him in that column.
Bush is in serious, serious trouble.
