Helpful DUers; Here is the story on that fundraising I just mentioned...
A long-time caller to Mike Malloy's show from NW Indiana has that problem a lot of retired people have; She's a pack rat, and has an amazingly messy house. Unfortunately, the health department got involved when the gas company had to come and replace her gas meter. She has a very limited time to get the place mucked out into dumpsters, and in fact has a cleanup crew working on it, but has run out of money for crew and rubbish removal. And worse, until this is cleaned up, the gas company won't turn her gas back on and it is getting cold here.

What we want to do is help her out.

She does not have a computer, and no PayPal account, and we really just need to raise a couple of thousand dollars for the laborers and waste haulage to help her out.

Alternatively, we could raise a crew of DUers to decend on her house and do the job.

Basically I am wondering how we could go about this? Mike will mention this on the air when we have a plan about how we are gonna do it.

I'm looking for ideas.

-Ben

1. Go to the Legal Aid, or get her to go there -
These lawyers help with getting utilities turned back on. I'm not sure where you live, but I know you should try this.

2. I'd come and help muck it out, if I were anywhere near there.
I wonder how many DUers, we have out that way.

4. I'm about 90 miles from there myself.
And I think we have a lot of DUers in Chicago.
