Reform Ohio Now. how can i get my dad to support it? he doesnt understand |
|
ok my dad is a democrat and supports liberal issues. however i cannot get him to support issues 2, 3, 4, and 5, aka Reform Ohio Now!. He thinks b/c there will be an independent election commissions to regulate the elections that they will disenfranchize voters by blocking their vote. But the fact is, the IEC will PREVENT voter intermendation and disenfranchise votes. So since he doesn't have a computer to read the admendments, i read them to him from the website. But he still insists they'll do more harm than good. Then he'll give me examples why it'll do harm. (an example was this past elections when his vote and 200 others were thrown out b/c a voting machine glich and he wasn't allowed to vote) he thinks this'll allow the GOP to discredit votes and examples like that will continue to happen.
But i tried to tell him these issues will STOP that and will install nonpartisian commissions to regulate the votes. And if theres ever iregularities, an investigation can start without any political/partisian hacks.
so if ya guys have any good examples of why we should pass the issues, then give them to me. .. i respect my fathers voting decisions, but i seriously dont think he fully understands how important these issues are to pass. Although i have to admit, the ads for the issues are very short on admendment information.
thanks

1. Do the Democrats support the initiatives? If they do, your Dad |
|
will figure they must be OK.

2. If KB is the R nominee for Gov in '06, should he be counting the votes? |
|
My answer is NO and I hope your father's is too.
A couple more questions for your dad...(I think it's better to get him to think than to beat him on the head with "reasons".)
Isn't the IEC just a state-wide board of elections?
How that work out in '04 with a clear partisan in charge of counting the votes?
