"It is slowly dawning on the American people that the Bush Administration
... attack on Valerie and Joe Wilson was part of a broader conspiracy to hide the fact that our political leaders fabricated a case for war in Iraq. Dick Cheney, Scooter Libby, and Karl Rove, among others, apparently preferred to destroy a valuable intelligence asset rather than expose the truth the United States went to war in Iraq based on misinformation and deception. That is a crime deserving the most serious punishment.

From The Marriage Canard and Valerie Plame by Larry Johnson on October 27, 2005

17. Believe me when I declare that all the souls of
those who have died by the greedy hand of Bush neocons, Cheney, et.al., will not rest in peace until this wrong has been righted.
The Will Unfolds in Many and Mysterious Ways Indeed!

Bush and pals are up against a power far greater than they imagined and this one will allow their evil methods to be viewed by the entire world, at the pace of an endlessly slow and agonizing death, for those who harmed and brought such grief upon so many innocents.

Bush & pals will pay tenfold the price of pain they laid upon generations.

It is the way of all Gods and all Karma.

I do not believe any of them are powerful enough to stop the wheels that have begun to turn back in their direction.
We simply have to keep the faith and carry on as we all have been doing for so long.
Speak truth to their evil power.
They have brought too much death & grief to walk away from it. Not their money nor their mansions will protect them.
The United States of America Will Recover, wiser and more cautious.

All our efforts will certainly not be in vain.

Carry on DUers. We walk on the side of good.

Thanks,
Blaze

12. It seems to me
(It's my hope) Much of America seems like a hybernating bear, just waking after winter-- kinda dumb, kinda confused, and very hungry. Just looking around, what's happening? Hopefully they're having that "Dude, where's my country?" moment.
I want to say I told you so.
I want to say were in the hell WERE you when we were screaming on the streets across the world? Putting "boycott France" bumberstickers on your car? (I actually saw one--a fresh one a couple of weeks ago)

I want to. But what I want more is to do what I can to keep America from further harm from these cretins in the white house. I welcome every convert, every new awakening. When they tell me shit I KNEW three and four years ago, like it's a new discovery, I listen. I tell them the information has been available all along. I tell them it's not hard to research, it's not hard to find the truth.

26. This Jane Hamsher quote really is exceptional:
Whem Murray Waas earlier today wrote:

Vice President Cheney and his chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, overruling advice from some White House political staffers and lawyers, decided to withhold crucial documents from the Senate Intelligence Committee in 2004 when the panel was investigating the use of pre-war intelligence that erroneously concluded Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, according to Bush administration and congressional sources.

And, more in:

http://nationaljournal.com/about/njweekly/stories/2005/1027nj1.htm

Jane sums it in one amazing sentence:

Boy when it comes to treason these clowns make Aldrich Ames look like a piker.

31. Rep Conyers: Libby to Be Indicted; Grand Jury to Be Extended; Other ....
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 10:25 PM by understandinglife
... Indictments Possible

Initial Thoughts -- More to Come

OK, now we have the most solid story out yet, from the New York Times. Libby will be indicted. Rove and others not off the hook as grand jury to be extended. Other indictments possible. Obvioulsy, not good news for the Bush team, as Libby will likely be forced to resign, and the investigation will go on and expand. It does not strike me that Libby would operate alone, but we will see.

I will have much more to say tomorrow.

Link:
http://www.conyersblog.us/archives/00000289.htm

And, this is the article Congressman Conyers references:

Aide to Cheney Appears Likely to Be Indicted; Rove Under Scrutiny

By DAVID JOHNSTON
and RICHARD W. STEVENSON

Published: October 28, 2005

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 - Associates of I. Lewis Libby Jr., Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, expected an indictment on Friday charging him with making false statements to the grand jury in the C.I.A. leak inquiry, lawyers in the case said Thursday.

Karl Rove, President Bush's senior adviser and deputy chief of staff, would not be charged on Friday, but would remain under investigation, people briefed officially about the case said. As a result, they said, the special counsel in the case, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, was likely to extend the term of the federal grand jury beyond its scheduled expiration on Friday.

<clip>

White House officials said their presumption was that Mr. Libby would resign if indicted, and he and Mr. Rove took steps to expand their legal teams in preparation for a possible court battle.

<clip>

Lawyers for the two men declined to comment on their legal status.

The sleigh-bell sentence: Lawyers for the two men declined to comment on their legal status.

I'm sure we will all be very interested to hear what Rep Conyers has to say tomorrow, and thereafter.

Peace.

And, when you say Fleitz, everyone immediately says ..... Bolton ....

Key to Fleitz is that though he was assigned to State he retained his CIA WINPAC portfolio, i.e., he certainly knew Valerie (Plame) Wilson and he well could have known she was a NOC and the Brewster/Jennings connection, ....

The bit about Woodward doing a piece on Fleitz in WaPo for the Friday edition is likely to have added to the hit count at the WaPo site in the past hour ;)

37. "Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from
... day to day, to the last syllable of recorded time; and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death."

Can you think of a better summation of the position Bush now finds himself in? There will be no legacy of endless Republican power. No grand remaking of the Middle East. No privatization of, well, everything. No shrinking the government. No superseding his father.

<clip>

Macbeth's fatal deed -- from which there was no return -- was, of course, killing King Duncan ("Had I but died an hour before this chance, I had lived a blessed time"). Bush's fatal deed was invading Iraq. It led directly to Plamegate -- an attempt to cover up the lies and deceptions used to sell an unnecessary war to the American people. It derailed the war on terror, increased anti-American feeling around the world, contributed to the soaring budget deficit, made us less safe here at home, and set the table for the disastrous mishandling of Hurricane Katrina.

<clip>

By the way, in casting Bush as Macbeth, I am in no way suggesting that Laura is Lady Macbeth. I'm reserving that role for Dick Cheney, the instigator of W's darkest deeds, the carrier of all neocon obsessions, the power behind the throne who suffers none of the doubt or uncertainty that occasionally plague W. Although, unlike Lady Macbeth, I seriously doubt Cheney is kept awake by nightmares of the blood that's surely on his hands. If he were beset by sleepwalking fits, they would more likely be accompanied by visions of Patrick Fitzgerald showing up at his door, brandishing Scooter Libby's notes.

39. They write books for 200 or more years about guys like these
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 11:52 PM by Hubert Flottz
rats, that ratted out a CIA agent, after they're dead and gone. The country don't forget traitors. Artists even paint a lot of pictures of guys like that over the years. These guys didn't just out Valerie Plame. They started an aggressive war that has killed thousands and mangled thousands more and they lied to congress, the American people and the United Nations, in order to start their war.

The neocons have even tortured people to death, over Karl Rove's political goal of making himself a WAR PRESIDENT. Rove even said in public, before the 2002, election that war was good for republican politics. Rove said this as the Bush White House and Libby/Cheney's crew were in the process of "SELLING THE WAR!" The New York times helped the neocons "SELL THE WAR," BTW.

The PNAC traitor was saying on the Larry King show, that no other agent was killed over the outing of the CIA agent. The GOP try to trivialize the fact that they outed her. They committed their crime because her husband was about to derail their "selling of the war." The war they "SOLD" HAS KILLED Americans abroad, by the thousand and wounded thousands more. What amounts to an entire division in number, of American soldiers, are either dead or wounded. They have also robbed the taxpayers blind, because their totally elective war is costing 6 billion dollars a WEEK...

How the ignorant cheerleading Senator from Texas can stand up in front of the American people and say what that woman said tonight, about this affair not being anything that really amounts to much, is beyond belief. We need to do something to stop the GOP from placing IDIOTS in office, that are a REAL danger to the American people. She needs to wash all that Tammy Faye Baker body putty off her eyes, so she can see the REAL WORLD. This mess is not trivial to the killed and wounded Kay. Not trivial to Cindy and the hundreds of other Gold Star Mothers Kay. Kay is trying to get herself in on the coverup thing I guess. Trying to obstruct the carrying out of justice, in her own little selfish way. Giving a little aid and comfort to the criminals. Martha Stewart is a SAINT compared to that fool!

Hell, this might even be Karl's great great grandpa's picture!

Rumbo down there getting some "Real Answers" out of some of the "Terra-ists" they've rounded up. Serious Chains and shackles rattling around all night long.

Every day is trick or treat for that clone crew. I think they might have mistakenly mixed in too many of Reagan's failing brain cells in the last batch of clones, because they all of a sudden like, got CRS disease, now that Mister Fitzgerald is rattling their cages.

Breaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111!111!!!!1!1!11!!1

Reagan's Excuse Is Still Alive..."DUUUUUUUUH...I can't remember!"

Let the perps make some little rocks out of BIG ones in Leavenworth for a while and they won't be so forgetful next time.

It's a damned shame, that the White House has the highest crime rate in the country!

60. James Moore: "The Criminalization of Criminals"
I was at a trial out in the Davis Mountains of West Texas when I heard a bit of unexpected wisdom. A Texas ranger was testifying at the courthouse in Alpine about a man who had run up into the hills to begin a revolution. Nobody listened very closely to the rebel; except for a few of us reporters who found him an intellectual curiousity.

Eventually, his bubble tilted way off level and he started shooting. People were hurt. In the trial, his lawyers said he was standing on our most beloved principles of a right to protect his freedoms with guns. The old ranger, though, scoffed. "Look," he said. "Wrong is still wrong even if everybody's doing it. And right is still right even if nobody's doing it."

Leaking the names of CIA agents is not politics; it is a crime. Lying to congress about evidence for a war is not politics; it is a crime. Failing to tell a grand jury that you met with a reporter and talked about the CIA agent is not forgetfullness; it is a crime. Deceiving your entire nation and frightening children and adults with images of nuclear explosions in order to get them to support a bloody invasion of another country is not politics; it is a crime. Anyone other than Karl Rove and Lewis Libby and Tom Delay who does not get this, please raise your hand. The three of you will need to stay after class for further instruction in civics.

42. Having studied all the primary articles - WaPo, NYT, Bloomberg, LAT, ...
... I'm convinced the most likely folk leaking are lawyers or others associated with either Libby or Rove.

It matters not, because we have zero evidence of a single leak from Fitzgerald or the Grand Jury.

At this point, the fact that neighbors of the Wilson's were being queried about whether they had any clue what she did -- which at least one neighbor claimed shock when learning of her profession -- tells me that Mr. Fitzgerald is focusing on way more than whether someone lied to him or the Grand Jury.

I think violation(s) 18 USC 793, at a minimum, is what at least one person is going to face as noted in FBI talking to the Wilson's neighbors == 18 USC 793 &/or IIPA indictments:

62. A Huffington: "Fitzgerald's Libby High Five Puts the Focus on Iraq"
The five counts against Scooter Libby is a high five for those of us who have been saying (ad nauseum, ad infinitum) that the heart of Plamegate has always been the way this administration did everything in its power to cover up the lies and deceptions it used to lead us into a reckless and unnecessary war.

2 counts of perjury. 2 counts of making false statements. 1 count of obstruction of justice. These charges will keep the focus squarely on the cover up and will allow the American people to finally get a look into the nuts and bolts of how the White House Iraq Group marketed the war.

The lies that led us to war -- and the lies used to cover up those lies -- are about to go prime time. Stockpiles of WMD, Niger yellowcake, aluminum tubes, smoking guns that are mushroom clouds, unmanned drones, chemical weapons ready to launch in 45 minutes, "slam dunk" intel. These will all at long last get the through public going-over they never got.

65. Sen Rockefeller: The American people deserve answers and they want ...
... the truth.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 28, 2005

SENATOR ROCKEFELLER’S STATEMENT ON SPECIAL PROSECUTOR FITZGERALD’S INDICTMENT OF WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL SCOOTER LIBBY

“It is a terrible day for all Americans when a top White House official is accused of lying and obstructing justice, made all the worse when it’s about a national security matter.

“Revealing the identity of a covert agent is the type of leak that gets people killed. Not only does it end the person’s career, and whatever assignments they may have been working on, it puts that person in grave personal danger as well as their colleagues and all the people they have had contact with over the years.

“These very serious charges go to the heart of whether administration officials misused intelligence by disclosing an undercover CIA agent. They also heighten concerns that the administration engaged in a pattern of misusing intelligence to make the case for going to war with Iraq.

“To date, Congress has completely failed to answer these critical questions. The fact is that at any time the Senate Intelligence Committee pursued a line of questioning that brought us close to the White House, our efforts were thwarted. If my Republican colleagues are not prepared to undertake a full and serious congressional investigation into the potential misuse of intelligence, then I regretfully conclude that we have no choice but to pursue an outside independent investigation. The American people deserve answers and they want the truth.”

“We must send a strong message to all the patriotic Americans in our intelligence agencies who continue to serve their country at great personal risk. Our government and our judicial system will not tolerate those who leak classified information and put the lives of others at risk.”

http://rockefeller.senate.gov/news/2005/pr102805.html

A regret I'm sure I share with many of you is that Senator Rockefeller and his colleagues on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence permitted their names to appear on what we all know is a report that Cheney collaborated with Roberts as a white-wash of the intentional fabrication and distortion of intelligence on Iraq WMD for the purpose of mis-representation of the war to the American people and to the Congress and to the UN:

http://intelligence.senate.gov/iraqreport2.pdf

Maybe now Senator Rockefeller and those of his colleagues who have any integrity will rectify the Bush and the neoconsters' massive lie that is responsible for death, destruction and a culture of torture that are the cold realities of American history; cold realities that NEVER NEEDED TO HAPPEN.

Peace.
