Bush To Nominate Next Person Who Walks Through Door
Bush To Nominate Next Person Who Walks Through Door

October 27, 2005 | Issue 41•43

WASHINGTON, DC—After Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination for the Supreme Court Thursday, President Bush announced that he will nominate the next person who walks through his door. "I assure the American people that the next person who enters my field of vision will be a highly qualified candidate of unimpeachable character, with a solid record, and--what's more--a good heart," Bush said. As of press time, 17 people were waiting outside the door, including the president's daughter Jenna, and special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.

2. I'm checking travelocity for tickets to DC.
I'd look good in a black robe, and I can fake being a bugfuck insane fundie nutcase with the best of 'em (lots of observing their behavior--you don't attribute anything to your own thoughts but to it being "given to you in prayer" and I'll call bush my "brother in Christ" a lot).

Yeee ha!

5. You'd be great, but aren't you trying to steal Jenna's spot?
Just think, if Jenna got in, her head would be on the desk from a hangover whenever the court was in session. She'd never vote, never have the law clerks doing anything but drinking with her in the bars all night. She would be a total "neutral" never voting. Come on, the kid has to do something.

6. That's true.
I would vote as far left as possible every single time, no matter what, just to balance out Bugfuck Insane Scalia.

14. Did you see Bork talking about this on several shows?
He seemed almost center-liberal. He said it was a disaster; agreed she had no experience etc. By the way, the guy had a real sense of humor. I saw a real human being there. It's funny the way a person like Bork was demonized at the time compared to what we have now, like Thomas and Scalia. Reminds me a bit of Pat Buchanan talking against the Bush Iraq war.
