2. Ya gotta give 'em a taste (from the above link)
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 - Associates of I. Lewis Libby Jr., Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, expected an indictment on Friday charging him with making false statements to the grand jury in the C.I.A. leak inquiry, lawyers in the case said Thursday.

Karl Rove, President Bush's senior adviser and deputy chief of staff, will not be charged on Friday, but will remain under investigation, people briefed officially about the case said. As a result, they said, the special counsel in the case, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, was likely to extend the term of the federal grand jury beyond its scheduled expiration on Friday.

As rumors coursed through the capital, Mr. Fitzgerald gave no public signal of how he intends to proceed, further intensifying the anxiety that has gripped the White House and left partisans on both sides of the political aisle holding their breath.

Mr. Fitzgerald's preparations for a Friday announcement were shrouded in secrecy, but advanced amid a flurry of behind-the-scenes discussions that left open the possibility of last-minute surprises. As the clock ticked down on the grand jury, people involved in the case did not rule out the disclosure of previously unknown aspects of the case.

4. Rove cut a deal
Rove may have agreed to testify against Libby and perhaps Cheney. The grand jury is being kept open to assure cooperation

23. Refers to the good General, my first candidate last year
when I switched, I used to refer to myself as "Just a little Clarkie for Kerry". Somebody liked the "Little Clarkie" part, and so it stuck.

10. I was told by someone who spoke with const. lawyers that

Fitz really can't extend this grand jury (except maybe from a Friday to a Monday due to illness or something quickly resolved) and that he will have to call a new grand jury. He can't extend it well into Nov., for example.

14. I was worried it wasn't this simple.
"For cases involving complex and long-term investigations (such as those involving organized crime, drug conspiracies or political corruption), "long term" grand juries will be impaneled. Such "long term" grand juries typically sit fewer days each week, and their terms can be extended in six month increments for up to three years."

16. Remember, everything coming from the media is not from the prosecutor.
Sources are identified as WH sources throughout the story. Pay attention to this little nugget:

"Mr. Fitzgerald's preparations for a Friday announcement were shrouded in secrecy, but advanced amid a flurry of behind-the-scenes discussions that left open the possibility of last-minute surprises. As the clock ticked down on the grand jury, people involved in the case did not rule out the disclosure of previously unknown aspects of the case."

In other words, all the Times knows is what the target lawyers are leaking. They WISH they knew what Fitz is gonna do.

22. My heart sank
yesterday when I heard on TV that Fitiz had met with KKKarl's lawyer (I can't recall his name) in the lawyer's office, and that the two are good friends. I was afraid a deal was being struck.

Well, it's not over till it's over. I hope that ultimately KKKarl and Cheney go down along with Scooter.

28. Operative. Sentence. Here.
Mr. Fitzgerald's spokesman, Randall Samborn, declined to comment.

Come on y'all. BREATHE. BREATHE. BREATHE. Get a paper bag out, hold it over your mouth and breathe slowly in and out. THEN, read the story again.

And there's this: "people briefed officially about the case said" Who the hell are "people".

Wait for official word on PF's website or the press conference tomorrow.
