Can we please drop the hyper "Fitzmas" posts?
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 10:07 PM by Maddy McCall
It's becoming quite ridiculous. I'm as anxious and excited as any DUer about the impending news, but I've become so sick of seeing the "Fitzmas this" and "Fitzmas that" posts, that I'm limiting my time at DU to keep from saying something mean and inappropriate to another DUer.

What will happen tomorrow represents the exposure of five years of maladministration, corruption, lies, venom, and death for our country. It is so sad that our nation has had to experience such ruin.

I will drink a champagne toast with the rest of you when the indictments are announced. I will be happy that finally this administration has been exposed for the evil force that it is.

I have tremendous respect for Fitzgerald. And I am aware that those who are spouting all of these Fitzmas posts might be let down if the news isn't to their liking.

We have only just begun a process that will probably be drawn out for many more months, if not years. So many times I have seen DUers put a public figure on a pedestal, only to jerk him off of that pedestal when he veers from the expected line. Look at Mary Landrieu. Look at Tweety. Even KEITH Olbermann has suffered the wrath of DUers when he didn't toe their line.

Hero worship isn't what we need now. We cannot be certain what will happen tomorrow. I just hope that, if the news isn't to the liking of some DUers, you don't bash Fitzgerald for being something other than what you expected him to be.

3. and objectifying the prosecutor is offensive, too
At least in my opinion. Drooling over the prosecutor is as silly as those blue-hair freepers who drool over W every damn day.

Please.

Let's focus on work, not on superficialities.

10. Please drive safely Maddy!
While I respect what you are saying tremedously, I disagree. It is also important to show that upholding our laws and way of life is important too. Let us celebrate that justice is wondrously alive and the hope that those who committed any criminal acts are made to atone publically for crimes against humanity.

But while you are having a great day in Louisiana, I will be enjoying Fitzma...:P

7. Fitz did his job and did it well...
I believe that and I don't need indictments to tell me otherwise.

I do agree. If they happen the process from this point on will be a long one. I also think it won't be a pretty one either. There will be hearings and a trial, etc.

I honestly believe this is the beginning of floodgates opening. No one at the WH will be wearing any clothes :)

I think the Fitzmas thing is an oversimplification of matters, but I don't mind letting DUer's celebrate in their own way.

9. You may not need to worry about it much longer -
- because - if NYT is right - we're only going to be getting big fat chunks of coal in our Fitzmas stockings.

Bah . . . Humbug! :-(

20. See? Your post is indicative of the problem as I see it.
Putting this whole situation in a "Fitzmas" light means that either we are happy children because we get boucoup indictments, or we are pissed and let down by Fitz because he only announces a minor indictment on "Fitzmas." It's black and white, with no shades of grey.

Fitzmas gives people the notion that everything will have been remedied, to be announced in ONE DAY.

But this is a long process. The announcements will BEGIN tomorrow. That certainly won't be the one and only announcement.

32. Maybe you just don't see too well -
- if you think my post is indicative of the problem because I was essentially agreeing with you.

The Fitzmas analogy will dry up when and if things don't come down in the manner and time frame that some seem to think it should. And - if the NYT's is right - that is pretty much exactly what will occur.

14. Maddy, don't be the Grinch who stole Fitzmas!
We've had so precious little to feel good about, to be hopeful about, these past few years. Seeing anyone on the team mope at a time like this, moping about other's jubilation that the bad guys are about to get served, well, it's CLASSIC raining on the parade! Come join the fun!

But I completely understand what you are saying, and being cautiously optimistic is probably the best way to approach this situation.

27. Ah, grasshopper.
Since you have your profile disabled, I can't see when you joined DU, but I have an inkling that it was fairly recently.

What YOU don't understand is that when things don't go the way some DUers expect, they turn on their former hero.

I'm not talking about "making fun of shit" (very eloquent of you :eyes: ). I AM talking about putting a man on such a tall pedestal that he can never be what DUers want him to be. And then they turn on him. I've seen it a million times. Most of the time, undeservedly.

When you would like to post to me without hurling insults, I'll be glad to listen. When you resort to insults, nothing you say afterwards really matters.

19. I would say "drop the hyper posts"
the use of the word "Fitzmas" doesn't matter to me one whit. What does get me is people who are so far out on this limb that, as you say, they will turn on Santa Fitz if he calls for anything short of a public tarring and feathering of the whole asses of evil.
