Times story seems no better sourced than any other rumor |
|
Karl Rove, President Bush's senior adviser and deputy chief of staff, will not be charged on Friday, but will remain under investigation, people briefed officially about the case said
Mr. Fitzgerald's preparations for a Friday announcement were shrouded in secrecy...
Mr. Fitzgerald's spokesman, Randall Samborn, declined to comment.
So, if Fitz is not telling, how does one get "briefed officially" about the case and what possible "official" could conduct this secret "briefing"?
Just because Howard Fineman is echoing this story like he wrote it on MSNBC I wouldn't give it any more credibility than any other rumor we've heard lately.

and you need dough yesterday. But it's not exactly on the level of a rumor, I wouldn't say. The dopes spewing on cable are spreading rumors, gossip and wishful thoughts--mostly about how no real crime is at stake. These guys I'm guessing--in the wake of the Miller "former hill staffer" fiasco--are probably being careful about how to refer to their sources. It doesn't mean it's true, but I don't think it should be given the same weight as a Drudge rumor or Larry King guest gas emission.

3. When Fitzgerald finally talks... |
|
We will all listen.
None of the antics of the Miers nomination and withdrawal will be of any consequence tomorrow as we all wait to hear ANY news about what is going to happen in the White House. What bothers me is the way this week will be seen in the eyes of history. Frankly, I am embarrassed by the three-ring circus that has become our government.
I think it is safe to say that if Scooter goes down, he will be a good fall-guy and keep the whole ship from going down. He is assured to have the G. Gordon Liddy career path after the dust clears with the assurance of a series of publishing deals and radio shows. The best thing we can do if this is the case is not watch, do not buy his books, and do not patronize his show sponsors.
