2. He's saying he's old & tired .... he did his 'good thing'.....
Young blood, take his example! Don't go hanging your hopes on Woodward....aren't you a worthy/honest person yourself? Can't you do that too? Go find some more truths. They're hidden underneath every stone, so start digging!

5. Yeah, okay....
...so you caught me trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Guilty as charged.

Woodward was pathetic :-(. I was trying to make something positive from it.

15. Old and tired, my ass...
... that's hardly an excuse for not doing the job. Sy Hersh is sixty-seven or -eight and he's still sticking it to the bad guys. Izzy Stone was still putting out his weekly newsletter into his `80s, as I recall.

What really happened is that Woodward got rich and lazy.

17. Or he is feeling threatened in some way?
My dad told me to 'never do anything that you would be ashamed to see on the front page of the newspaper'.

I always thought that simply meant to 'not do anything to be ashamed of'....I now know that that ALSO means, ' Don't do anything people can hold against/blackmail you with'.

10. Saw the tail end of this
and found them all really annoying. Senator Dodd tried to make the point that outing a CIA undercover agent was very serious and reprehensible, but got cut off at the very end.

Woodward tried to argue that even if VP was outed, there was no real damage to anyone. Well, what about her career, if nothing else? What's more, are we supposed to imagine that the administration did a cost/benefit analysis up front and determined in advance that, because outing her would not cause any real harm, it was ok to go through with it?

Give me a break.

14. He's a liar, or else Novak is
Novak said he was told by a CIA agent, I believe, that if he published Plame's name, it 'would hurt her' and when he asked how, he was told 'she will not be able to go abroad anymore'. When Novak was asked why then, he published his article, he said 'he (the agent) was not forceful enough.

Also, how does Woodward know that no harm was done? Why didn't Larry King remind him that her entire front company was shut down, and now they are not tracking WMDs anymore? Does Woodward not want WMDs tracked?

Aslo, I remember someone, maybe Larry Johnson, saying that when a NOC or covert agent dies in the course of their duty, they cannot put their names on the memorial wall at CIA headquarter, they put a star. He said that a new star was on the wall after the outing of Valerie Plame. Also, many people abroad, assets, were most likely endangered, maybe even killed.

So Woodward should just be quiet. If all he wants to do is try to save the most corrupt administration in our history, then he should identify himself as a spokesperson for the WH, not a journalist. God, our media is riddled with corruption apologists.

13. It's too sad to watch him be a Bush apologist; he's been seduced by power
And I mean sad, no sarcasm. The man was young and full of fire once, but I think he hung around inside the courts of power too long and he's become their amanuensis instead of their nemesis.

I had to turn it off.

18. Sorry to all the early threaders... some of us are watching this on repeat
Night workers and West-Coasters, ya know!

That being said...

I can't help but feel that Woodward has put his ego above the national interest, time and time again.

He certainly doesn't seem willing to acquiese his "title" as the breaker of the Biggest. Political. Scandal. Ever.

Funny, isn't it, the different opinions. There are Washington semi-insiders, like Woodward, and then there are, well, actual CIA employees and veterans.
