Indictment day is a sad day for America
I don't know why everyone is so slaphappy about the criminal behavior in the WH, today.

Justice being served is always a good thing, but that should be a given in a law and order country such as ours. Acting jubilantly about about the lies and corruption finally being brought to light is no reason to dance because we(yes we), and the Democratic crumb bums we elected let it all go on and on. The media, being the pack of hyenas they are, are not helping either, with their breathless coverage and restrained joy at the utter corruption that's been going on.

The Democratic politicians now suddenly against the Iraq invasion are hardly impressive, either, which means these scumbags only care about their political careers, indicative in their initial "yes" vote to give Bush unfettered power to make war on a poor and militarily weak country.

The entire government let us down, Democrats and Republicans, and I find no reason to feel joy about that.

1. I'm not happy about the criminal behavior
I'm happy that the criminal behavior is being dealt with within the context of the framework of the republic established over 200 years ago. duh.

15. Loon, have another cuppa Joe.
We're not celebrating the crimes. We're celebrating the fact that it appears the forces of truth and justice may finally be starting to prevail. Our nation has been in grave danger of becoming a permanent Fascist dictatorship, and now there is some hope of saving it. Rejoice!

2. No one is "slap-happy" about criminal behavior in the white house.
A lot of people are happy because FINALLY that criminal behavior is being revealed and the players are being held accountable.

9. Don't you mean "player"?
I think that's a bit naive.

4. It's just one bright light in total darkness we've had the last 5 years.
Yes, things are still incompetent on both sides of the aisle, but you have to get your celebrations when you can.

11. This is the way I feel... This is kind of a cartharsis...
for what's been happening for the last five years. Many of us have seen a good chunk of our lives taken away with our *necessary* obsessions in trying to fight what's been going on, with the concern that if we don't, that it won't get fixed. Many of us feel that things have been hopelessly messed up for so long with what we've been seeing going on. This sort of event is like a welcome release saying to us that there are those in power that can help, and that our system isn't totally broken just yet. For all the "work" many of us have been doing the last few years and the abuse we've endured from those folks that don't understand our feelings and extra work in politics, etc. this "break" that represents a "light at the end of the tunnel" is something to celebrate. Not some sort of vindictive delight at seeing others suffer. Some of us project our frustrations heavily on these individuals that are getting nailed right now, and in a way, rightly so, since they are responsible for so much of this breakdown to all our lives, as well as those who've lost their lives overseas, jobs everyplace else, and the general breakdown of our society around us.

Once this powerful cabal has been brought down, hopefully we can return back to the more productive and less contentious lives that we all once lived. But if it doesn't end quickly, we might infect ourselves with too long lasting an infection that will be hard to get rid of. I hope we can reattain what this country had before which was so valuable.

13. Well said!
The sad days were the days when all the crimes and misdeeds were done, when the dark shadow was cast over our nation.

We celebrate even the faintest of lights at the end of the tunnel, knowing they be not oncoming trains.

So many of us have set aside other things in life to become more engaged in political action of various kinds for some years now.

We do deserve to enjoy every ray of light that manages to peek through the darkness.

5. That's an odd way to look at it.
The joy is not to be felt with respect to the behavior. It has everything to do with heinous behavior finally coming to light and bringing appropriate consequences.

Slaphappy because perhaps there is now light at the end of a very dark and corrupt tunnel. That doesn't mean our work is over but it gives hope that beginning isn't a wasted effort.

8. I'm damn happy
I didn't vote or "let" these guys be in charge.

Good is conquering evil, I say it's perfectly warranted to show unabashed glee and revel in giddiness.

No one is finding joy in being let down! I for one am finding joy in seeing wrongs being righted. Not a damn thing wrong with that, so quit pissing in my Wheaties, will ya?

10. Indictment Day is a great day for America!
We didn't just wake up to discover there were crooks in the White House - we known it for years. This is the day that, hopefully, justice will prevail. And in America, when justice prevails, it is a great day!

12. It is a day to rejoice a glimmer of justice shining through the gloom

I applaud the news that there will at least be one indictment since I have been so frustrated and losing hope for our country with the Republican's one-sided abuse of power and lack of accountability since the election of 2000.

14. This is not the end of it.
Fitz will have another grand jury and with all the info he has now that he needs to investigate there Will be a lot more. Information about security etc. I will wager that Mr. Rove will go down and soon. There will be a number of other people that will turn over the rest of the culprits. I want Cheney gone too.
