Maybe Fitz is going after a bigger crime with Rove
The news says that although not indicted today he has been told he is still under investigation. Maybe Futz wants to go after him directly for something else other than than leak (wishful thinking?)

1. Libby is central, and will lead to other rats being trapped. n/t

2. The investigation turned up either evidence of other possible crimes,
or evidence of the existence of further testimony or evidence they need to charge Rove with the crimes being considered now. No good prosecutor will proceed without the evidence he thinks he needs to actually get a conviction. He wants to be sure the charges will stick. Remember -- this is the guy who prosecuted the first WTC bombers and the Gambinos. You don't go after big game without all the ammunition you can get.

3. Either that
or Rove is talking. If Rove is talking he might as well be dead. He'll be so radioactive that no one in DC will want to go near him anymore. Rove just fucked himself, like he's never been fucked before.

4. Rove as John Dean...?

wouldn't it be ironic if the despicable Rove turned on all of them, including *, to save his own ass? Woo hoo... Of course, Dean came off as honorable...

9. Oh no, Rove will never turn on Bush
this is Rove turning on the neocons. Him and George never really were allowed into that club until they needed an idiot to be a figurehead.

14. No...Rove is self serving...
He enjoys the actual process of destroying others. He is a sociopath and when held up against the wall he will go into self-preservation mode and do ANYTHING to save himself.

When it comes to crime you can predict how a person will behave when they stand accused with hard evidence.

The American penal system is no place to be for a fat, rich, white political thug who made his lifes work destroying others.

5. Hopefully you're right, but I think he'll turn it around to make him look
good, he's the "master" of deception!

7. Rove's lawyers were reportedly weighing and rejecting
deals with Fitz' on Weds. That being the case, I think we can expect that Rove's team would like to make a deal, but want's to limit the areas that he'll squeal on. Maybe sort of like Miller's insistence that here testimony be limited.

I think there is real pressure on to contain this to the matter of plame. They are trying to block the path into the lies that took the United States and the coalition of the willing into the war.

8. Agreed
And in the meantime, roverer is f'ing with your mind.

His stock in trade.

It is what he does.

He escapes another day, maybe. So as hateful as he is, of course he'd milk it to annoy, confuse, and spread disinformation.

13. but he wouldn't still be under investigation if he cut a deal
I think

it seems like Fitz has rock solid evidence on Libby and is gathering more info and going after something bigger with Rove............ you don't call up a new grand jury if you're not going after someone. My guess is that it will not just be Libby today and that Fitz is going to put Libby in the limelight today and then watch other people start squealing on Rove when the see the example set by Scooter.

17. Libby indicted (staying quiet) --- Rove not indicted (cooperating)
Rove is giving up Cheney, so he's got a deal. Libby wouldn't give up Cheney of course, so he's being cooked now.
