First they knock down the small time guys, get them to rat out the bigger players. This indictment serves notice that they're not fucking around. Time to cop a plea!

27. The more significant question is ...
What the hell even begins to be legitimate about using the White House and all its taxpayer-paid staff to mount such an attack on Joe Wilson??

I can conceive of absolutely no legitimate purpose of any kind that's served by all the obvious attention given to Wilson/Plame. The White House claims they had no role in dispatching Wilson or reeiving his report. Then what the hell makes a single meeting regarding him a legitmate use of taxpayer funds?

This is the most obvious case of waste, fraud, and abuse I can imagine. We've become so totally insensitive to corruption that we're letting this pass as though it's business as usual and doesn't merit attention. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The White House is a government function and 100% of the attention on Wilson/Plame has been partisan and political. No public purpose of any kind is served by the extensive time and resources invested in "dealing" with Wilson - a private citizen!

14. At this point, unless Fitz can prove that Cheney was malicious in...
disclosing Plame's identity to Libby, and unless he can prove that Cheney instructed Libby to release it to the media, then he can't be indicted for discussing Plame with a member of his staff who had National Security clearance.

At least that's my take on it.

Of course, that doesn't mean that Fitz is not planning on proving that Cheney was malicious in the above scenarios.

41. Exactly, and Libby has 5 counts
to donsider in cutting a deal to turn state's evidence. Libby would be the primary witness to cheney's maliciousness, other evidence may be hearsay and he needed to nail libby to get the goods on cheney.

that will turn on Cheney to shave off jail time. Second Vheney will be forced to testify under oath and he has NO idea what Fitzgerald knows. Fitzgerald won't realease every thing today because we will have a FITZMAS YEAR not just a day. The intent is to bring presuure to bear from all directions. Cheney can't be feeling too good today and he lost his most loyal faux soldier.

Any legal-types out there know for certain?

And, of course, at the end of his presidency, Bush will pardon and expunge his record.

I imagine if it's possible, Libby will just plead guilty, do his time, and take the fall for everyone?

Just what Mr. Fitzgerald released today will open the door to a hugh can of worms. With the investigation going on tells me the guy has the goods on everybody around the VP and Bush. The plane trip where they passed the information around on is going to drag them all in. This doesn't mean that Scooter is not going to be charged with more series crimes as the case develops. This thing is da-bomb!

I can't wait to hear what Fitz has to say later on today.

47. It makes sense to offer one baited hook at a time. Why throw all the
fish in at once?

It's called playing your cards right.

Fitz knows what he's doing. Bargaining. Everyone has to decide on each circuit if they'll ante up or fold, or raise the bet.

Let one ace on the table at a time. You'll waste the other if they show all the cards at once.

Fitz doesn't want broadcast impact. He's not doing this for ratings. He's worming his hooks and luring in the big fish.

This is really fun.
