When Wolf Blitzer says "Libby has been charged with 'potential' crimes" |
|
what the hell does he mean? Why does he use such language?
Is Blitzer unsure if these things are actually crimes? Does he feel that perjury is yet to be determined if it's an ACTUAL crime, therefore it's only a "potential" crime?
WTF is wrong with these people??

3. Never heard of that before. |

I always thought if you were charged it was for "alleged" crimes. Wouldn't "potential crimes" mean you were charged for something that might have been a crime?

as when TV anchors say "alleged" murderer when the person was caught with the smoking gun in his hand, standing over the body. There is an assumption of innocence until proven guilty.

5. Yes, He's 'Alleged' To Have Committed A Crime, But What He's Charged With, |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 12:47 PM by arwalden
... is an ACTUAL crime, it is NOT merely a "potential" crime.
There is no doubt as to whether or not perjury is a crime... it is.
Yet Blitzer's words suggest that there is some doubt if what Libby has been charged with is actually a crime. And that's wrong. It's irresponsible.

9. Just another average intellect unduly elevated. |

He's trying to be oh, so objective, like calling a homicide victim "allegedly murdered". Probably says "between he and I", too.
