|
somebody threw sand in the umpire's eyes and that's why the obstruction charge should be taken seriously.

In order for someone to be convicted of outing a covert CIA agent the have to meet certain criteria:
1. They have to know that the agent was in fact undercover.
2. The agent has to be labeled by the CIA as a covert agent within the last five years.
3. The agent has to have been stationed outside of the United States within the last five years.
We already know that numbers two and three will not be met as Valerie Plame does not fit into those to categories. She was stationed in the US as a WMD desk jockey. There's only been one person convicted underneath the espionage act and he was pardoned by president Clinton.

|
That talking point won't fly.
If it is proven that Libby lied to the gj, it's a serious matter. We as prosecutors deal with false statements, obstruction, all the time. The truth is the engine of our judicial system. Citing all the people who prosecute people for obstruction, false statements. Anyone who think that a high official is subject to a different standard, we should hand in our jobs, because this is a very serious matter.
So much for the rw talking point about these charges not being important.

first of all, the audio is on Fitzgerald instead of the President of the United States. Ouch! Tough day for Bush. Second, Fitzgerald is now known for investigating corruption in the White House. Showing images of Cheney and Bush when Fitzgerald is discussing his investigation is hilarious.

He is not saying anything about other possible charges, but is extending the investigation. Why?
He won't tell.
But, we know Rove is still under investigation & Raw Story is breaking that Fitzgerald is going after more SERIOUS charges. And, there may be others charged as well.
This is fascinating stuff.
The right is going to have a hard time painting this guy as a partisan hack or conducting a witch hunt.
I am impressed.
