This trial is NOT about the validity of the war and will not seek to prove |

or disprove the validity of the war, and anyone expecting it to will be disappointed. (<---Paraphrasing Fitz.)

I think enough sliminess will come out to make all Americans sick of Bushco and the way he got us into war. It will be "collateral damage", just like the cursing and racism and sliminess of Nixon on the tapes.

3. Yes, THIS trial won't ... |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 02:05 PM by elcondor
How I'm interpreting these indictments is that Fitzgerald probably has a pretty good picture about what really happened ... HOWEVER, if people are going to testify and lie, he doesn't know the real story and evidence to prosecute regarding the actual leak itself. That's just my gut, I could be wrong. He's pissed he was lied to, and is prosecuting Libby to get to the bottom of what really happened.

4. I think the facts will speak for themselves when the |
|
trial is underway. People will draw their own conclusions, hopefully, the correct one.
I wouldn't be disappointed just yet.

6. Oh I am just disappointed that Fitz came out and said that early on, |
|
is all. I hope that you are right that the info comes out and people do draw their own conclusions.

9. My understanding is that this trial right now is about Plame being outed |
|
Other illegal activities that could possibly be brought to light which don't directly pertain to this issue, would have to be heard in a separate trial.
Is that correct?

11. It was originally a leak case but developed into something else |
|
So if he finds something bigger, maybe he goes to the judge with the evidence to broaden the scope of the investigation.
He only said that applied to these charges. He also said that if he found something criminal it was his duty to investigate and not look the other way even if it didnt relate to the original charge. So maybe there is a little light there.

It was my understanding that this is what the investigation was about, you know, Plame being "outed" but nothing came out about that. The only thing that is being pursued is Libby lying to the GJ. I heard him (Fitz)say she was classified and I didn't hear covert(there is a difference because of which law someone could be charged under) but I don't see anything coming out about this. Was she covert or not? Was she "outed" or not? Are there going to be charges come out of the original investigation or just these perjury charges? What happened to the original reason for this?

13. Fitz explained that - because of the obstruction of justice charge |
|
he has to proceed carefully. Once they know that Libby lied on purpose, it made (what did he say ... ) the case foggy as to the original charge.
I think that is why no one is off the hook yet (meaning Rove), during the trial additional info might come out or even next week they might learn something different and persue more charges against others or even against Libby.
This is the end of the beginning, not the beginning of the end.

16. Yes it is. Just like Watergate was about Vietnam. |
|
Remember, Watergate all started with the burglery of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office to discredit the him for releasing the Pentagon Papers. They then went on the the Watergate.
This is the same. In an attempt to discredit Wilson they leaked his wife's name to cover-up the whole "nuclear threat" justifying the slaughter in Iraq.
Fitz may claim it's about perjury and lies not about Iraq, just as people then claimed that the "plumbers" were just political shenanigans and a little burglery.
What we need now is a Sam Ervin and a Sam Dash and a hefty infusion of backbone into the Democratic Leadership to open this thing up into an investigation into how the illegal war in Iraq was justified to the American people with lies and manipulation.

17. Bush praised Libby for being a "tireless worker for the American |
|
people." Just heard this on CNN radio news. Fearless Leader is praising Libby for working tirelessly as a treasonous bastard and a threat to national security. Still making stupid assed statements and taints himself and the entire cabal, i.e., Libby wasn't doing this by himself. I believe his Boss gave him the info. about Ms. Plame didn't he?
Taint is taint. Stink is stink. This whole bunch taints America and stinks to high heaven. Meanwhile, Rover is still being investigated and there's no telling what will come out about Darth Boss as time goes along.
