Begala brought up a good point on CNN |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 02:22 PM by thecorrection
Why lie if there is nothing to lie about or cover-up? He also brought up another point, now that "Scooter" has been indicted, this opens up a civil avenue for Wilson to sue in civil court.
I think this is only the beginning, there's more to come.

1. I think the civil suit idea is crazy. |
|
Begala must be hoping for a Paula Jones type perjury trap. I hope not.

Than having their entire lives/careers damaged out of political spite.
Just saying.

6. A civil suit would not be crazy |

they ruined her career and put her in great danger. I heard Joe Wilson say they are leaving all options open - and wouldn't make any decisions until the criminal investigation was concluded.

8. From what I understand, the beauty of a civil suit by the Wilsons is that |
|
ALL kinds of things would come out during the discovery phase.

3. No indictment was needed for the civil suit. |
|
The indictment doesn't prove guilt or innocence, it just means that the GJ thinks there's sufficient evidence to take the case to court.
Also, the overall assumption is that he's innocent (legally), but the prosecutor gets to assume he's not. Otherwise why prosecute, right? On the other hand, one can lie to cover up things that aren't illegal: The prosecutor will make a case as to why he thinks Libby lied.

Fitzgerald said almost nothing in the press conference that isn't in his indictments. BUT he made it clear that the point of obstruction is that you can't get at the truth. He hasn't found the truth..it remains for anyone that wants to shake this little cabal's world to the ground to come forward, save themselves or someone else.

If it ends here why did he reportedly investigate the Italian embassy connection and the Niger documents? What does that have to do with the charges brought today? Or Valerie Plame's status as a covert agent?Anyone?
