Earth to Fox: Valerie Plame Wilson Was Covert
Last night, Sean Hannity said this:

“I don’t think anybody exposed anything. I think everybody knew in town what did for a living. There’s no evidence that she was covert. None.”

And two nights ago, Anne Coulter said:

“She hadn’t been a covert agent for six years, and everyone in Washington knew she worked for the CIA.”

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald knocked that talking point down hard today in the Libby indictment:

At all relevant times from January 1, 2002 through July 2003, Valerie Wilson was employed by the CIA, and her employment status was classified. Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson’s affiliation with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community.

Coulter and Hannity and similar idiots claim that everyone knew that Valerie Plame (a) was married to Joe Wilson and (b) worked for the CIA. But the indictments make clear that Cheney and Scooter and the rest of the gang were scrambling around to find out more about Wilson and didn't know about the Plame connection until the CIA and/or State told them and then they continued to lie to reporters by claiming that they didn't know. So Scooter's fucked either way. If you believe Coulter and crew, he lied when he described the course of events leading to the discovery of the Wilson - Plame connection or if you don't believe Coulter and crew, he lied about his conversations with Russert, Cooper, and Miller...

5. The facts do not matter with these people

I remember Al Franken calling Hannity on his "Dean said president bush was envolved in 911" Hannity admitted he was full of shit, then a couple of days later said the exact same thing!

They will continue to say she was not covert over and over, because they are the propaganda machine for the right wing.

6. Well Fitzgerald didn't say she was covert

He said she was classified. I know that means you no can leaky info. I don't know what the technical definition is or the CIA defintion. But it was a CRIME, it is a CRIME and Libby is gone because of said indictment for covering up for said CRIME. Covert might mean actively overseas or something-does anybody know? But the fact that she worked for the CIA at all was classifed a State secret.

As usual the Repukes are messing with semantics.

7. Can someone who knows please help me here: Everything I read

seems to point to "Covert" is a person, "Classified" is information, as in "She was a covert operative" and "her status was classified".

It is really bugging me. Help!!!

They asked "covert".. he answered "classified." I read what you wrote on the other thread..why wouldn't he call her covert then? I don't understand the distinction. But I get the absolute feeling Fitzgerald never messes up with one.
