REJOICE! It's a classic "Squeeze Play"!
We see the prosecutors on teevee use it week after week...tell us the truth or "do not pass Go and go directly to jail." Libby's choice is a possible 30 yrs. in jail or turn State’s Evidence.

Tough spot, Libby. Tough spot. Heh, heh, heh......

Whatcha’ gonna’ do? Hmmmmmmmm?

This is just the prelude. Fitz isn't done yet.

Anyone "disappointed" by today's events isn't paying attention.

3. It's just the beginning of the troubles for Rove & Bush.
Cheney has apparently already been fingered as kicking this thing off.

6. I noted with interest that ARI sung like a canary
...and he got the hell out of there QUICK.

We know he sat in on all sorts of meetings...wonder what else he had to say? The putz should have waited to write his White House memoirs; I have a feeling the REAL story might be very interesting.

29. And Bolton (?)....and Tenet.....and who else?!
From Fitz's new conference:

"But in early June, Mr. Libby learned about Valerie Wilson and the role she was believed to play in having sent Mr. Wilson on a trip overseas from a senior CIA officer on or around June 11th, from an undersecretary of state on or around June 11th, and from the vice president on or about June 12th.

"It's also clear, as set forth in the indictment, that some time prior to July 8th he also learned it from somebody else working in the Vice President's Office."

4. Pardon
Note a tough choice for Scooter.

Wait for pardon and reap later rewards, or rollover and have BFEE destroy your life.

11. He will get a pardon, but the trick is to spin out the whole mess
with continuances, delays, and so on so that they get past the 06 midterms. Then, the concern is that he either has to take his lumps, or appeal the conviction, and go through the same bullshit, trying to keep it off the radar, or sit his ass down in jail and shut up until the 08 elections are done.

Then, he gets his pardon.

Fitz ain't fuckin' around and the message came through loud and clear to ALL the Players. Rove is still on the hook and has probably already "turned" but Fitz's case is strenghthened with TWO "witnesses". Fitz is going after Cheney!

13. Sentencing guidelines
Faithful service to the nation, no priors, upstanding citizen, blah blah blah....five to ten, with time off for good behavior!

He does under two, if he doesn't manage to escape jail with convoluted and protracted appeals, and gets a pardon as soon as Monkey can get away with it--if they do not get to Monkey in the meanwhile!

23. The Judge determines the sentencing
And with this being about National Security - an extraordinarily serious matter of the highest importance - there won't be any wrist slaps. Libby is facing serious jail time.

25. But look at who the judge is!! Reagan appointee, then Bush I appointee
Then, the chimp himself appointed him. This judge is the same judge that kept Sibel Edmonds quiet.

He ain't no friend of lady justice!!

9. How would a pardon affect the squeeze play?
If Bu$hco thinks Libby might flip, he will be pardoned. BFEE has been there, done that.

12. Bingo!
There is absolutely no reason for Libby to flip. Unless he has a sudden attack of "good conscience" and does what is right for the country.

Won't happen, sadly, he is too much a part of the BFEE.

15. Well, if HE gets a pardon, it could work against him
He cannot take the Fifth, because he is free as a bird, and cannot be nailed because he has already been pardoned.

If anyone can convincingly impeach his testimony, then he has to tell the truth, or risk the perjury squeeze all over again.

I think Fitzgerald has thought this thing through. I also think he is a very patient man.

16. I don't know. The notoriety of Libby's indictment and resignation
could make a pardon political suicide for the GOP. *shrug*

20. Wasn't suicide during Iran-Contra
Poppy pardoned a slew of people, and that had little if any impact on the GOP.

I'm desperating hoping Fitzgerald has more indictments in his bag...

21. Yup... If Perjury and Obstruction were all Fitz had
then there would have been more indictments today. Let us not forget that 50 Dems sent a letter to Fitz urging him to investigate deeper into the lies leading up to a war. I notice alot of naysayers around, and I can't imagine why. Libby is the highest ranking official to be indicted in 135 years. This is HUGH!!!!111

22. The trial will be on TV for a long time and...
Rove, Cheney, Miller, Cooper, etc. will have to testify.

Would the CIA bring espionage charges against Libby? There could be even more charges against Libby. Would congress investigate bush/cheney/rove to find how the war documents were cooked up to take the US to war?

28. Fitz has two unanswered questions
Who compromised National Security by revealing classified information re: Plame's association with the CIA and was it innocent or malicious? Even though Libby has stonewalled him from answering the questions (which is suspicious in and of itself) Fitz intends to get to the Bottom Line with or without Libby's cooperation.

Libby is being used as a Pawn to get Fitz what he wants.
