rw talking point: Nobody even knows who this libby guy is!
The average person has never even heard of this guy, so this is no big deal, he isn't important, now move along and go shopping already.

5. (M)ann Coulter hadn't heard of him two days before yesterday
(There's got to be a way to catch the bitch in that lie)

He's just some guy who worked at the White House, so he's gone, so what, the republican party got rid of a guy named Scooter, good riddance.

Yeah, he was just some guy....:eyes:

12. I don't buy it
you can't pray at the altar of Dick Cheney without knowing who Scooter is. Heck, I bet he's been on her show, perhaps multiple times!

6. Baloney
I make it my duty to know almost anybody and everybody in administrations.

Aides, spokespeople, etcetera. This is another whitewash ploy, but a lot of neo-cons actually genuinely ignorant of WH staff.

Never heard of him. He never worked in the white house. What are you talking about. Bush doesn't even know anyone named Karl Rove!

11. They have become "unpersons"
obligatory 1984 quote"

Winston did not know why Withers had been disgraced. Perhaps it was for corruption or incompetence. Perhaps Big Brother was merely getting rid of a too-popular subordinate. Perhaps Withers or someone close to him had been suspected of heretical tendencies. Or perhaps -- what was likeliest of all -- the thing had simply happened because purges and vaporizations were a necessary part of the mechanics of government. The only real clue lay in the words 'refs unpersons', which indicated that Withers was already dead. You could not invariably assume this to be the case when people were arrested. Sometimes they were released and allowed to remain at liberty for as much as a year or two years before being executed. Very occasionally some person whom you had believed dead long since would make a ghostly reappearance at some public trial where he would implicate hundreds of others by his testimony before vanishing, this time for ever. Withers, however, was already an unperson. He did not exist: he had never existed.

8. Notice how the media is downplaying his status in the WH.
He was VP Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor. This is important as it relates to the Iraq War. He was in on everything leading up to the war.

14. They have a point
In that a good portion of our fellow citizen probably can't even tell you who the vice-President is. However, all they need to know is that he's close to the White House and it's a White House that is corrupt.

You got that right.

The news was all over this like white on rice.

People like drama, so I'm quite sure they took notice.

21. My freeper brother
was trying this one out at lunch. I kept my mouth shut and let him choke on it. He just couldn't wrap his brain around it. Know Libby or not, he's a very high administration official. If you never heard of him, that just means you're a dumb ass.

Brother couldn't even finish a sentence, and finally changed the subject.
