5. Right you are Old Leftie...This is just the beginning.
The Dems have to start making noise now though. The Iraq War has to be investigated big-time...

Two things that have come out of this are the Italian investigation of the Niger documents and how the forgeries came to be taken as gospel.

Another is the fact that Libby (an indicted perjurer now) and Cheney withheld documents from a Congressional investigation

...but after READING the transcript of the press conference, I also think that he's 95% done. He pretty much said it would be unusual in a case like this to charge anyone else.

These are HIS words...not mine:

"OK, is the investigation finished? It's not over, but I'll tell you this: Very rarely do you bring a charge in a case that's going to be tried and would you ever end a grand jury investigation.

I can tell you, the substantial bulk of the work in this investigation is concluded."

I think a LOT of us are going by emotions at this point, reading the cracked door he left open as a sign of big things to come.

Personally, I don't think he feels he can CONVICT KKKarl Rove and after 2 years, I think he's ready to head back to Chicago.

That said, there's a LOT of investigating to do - by our democrats in Congress and MAYBE there will be more from Fitzgerald on this.

I just think many at DU are getting all worked up (only to be pissed in a month or so).

41. Whoa - he said that the bulk of the work is over...
so it may be - but they can not go after bigger fish because Libby lied - that means he doesn't have ALL of the truth. He has to go after Libby to get the facts before he can get on with the rest of the charges.

And that rarely you would 'end a grand jury investigation'.

He is just getting started...

18. isikoff can't find his way around any story unless there's a stained blue
dress in there somewhere.

From the appearances I've seen of his, on various TV shows, throughout the last several months, he looks as though he's pursuing this story with the most colossal reluctance, kind of like a kid forced to do his homework when he'd rather be playing video games. This ISN'T his cup of tea, and at least to me, he seems rather transparent about it. He doesn't want to be looking into malfeasance on this side of the aisle, AT ALL. Probably a closet neoCON.

23. Wed, April 27, WP: Investigation essentially ends, no indictments likely-
Report: Valerie Plame Investigation Wrapped Up

The Washington Post is reporting that the investigation has essentially ended into who within the Bush administration leaked the identity of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame. Legal experts and sources close to the case speculated Wednesday that special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald is not likely to seek any criminal indictments. On March 22, Fitzgerald filed legal papers that suggested the investigation was over except for interviews with two reporters who have refused to testify.

What I saw was somebody who appeared pretty confident and very determined to get to the bottom of crimes that he feels were committed.

The end of it? If it was the end of it, Fitz would have said it was the end of it. Unlike the administration, he actually has honor and integrity.

Even if this investigation is done this is the foot in the door dems should take. Press this further. Ask to dig deeper. Make sure this just isn't a drive by thing that the WH hopes goes away. Fitzgerald said he essentially ended his investigation a year ago. A new grand jury is not being empaneled. Only one indictment. I am very disappointed but the investigation is for all intents and purposes over.

46. Isn't there is a new grand jury ready to go...right?
Fitz did most of the groundwork then got slowed down because of the reporters.....

Now he has Libby. He says he couldn't tell us the DANGERS that this created for us all; that obstruction was blocking the truth. The reporter at the end of the Q & A mentioned CONSPIRACY...that Libby hadn't been charged with that but ...........and Fitz cut him off VERY quickly...

I think he's sitting on something huge and needs to squeeze a few more people or catch a few more in lies.....

39. What is with these repukes and their body language thingy?
For a while it was like Bush had learned a new meme, talking about body language before the 911 commission when he appeared with Cheney.

Frankly, I think Bush's body language is best when he is bending over, like the picture of him signing the bill protecting the gun manufacturers.

He is at his happiest when someone can shove it up his ass...
