The Big Poker Game
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 04:49 PM by longship
I think Fitz has Rove right where he wants him. Rove's going to be looking over his shoulder until the other shoe drops. And make no mistake, Fitz is going to issue more indictments.

Don't forget, Fitz has played this like a poker game so far. Today's press conference was just another hand in that game. Like in all poker hands, look for misdirection and outright deceptions. He may signal one thing and mean something else entirely. He disguises his strengths and his weaknesses. Facets about which he acts weak may be where he's the strongest, and vice-versa.

But one thing's for sure, Fitz did not pull his chair away from the table today. He's still in the game.

Hang on, everybody. More's on the way.

On edit: grammar and misc.

2. Can't he make Libby testify now too and give him use immunity?

3. Sure, why not?

If he's got bigger fish to fry, I would think he would consider doing that.

But I see conspiracy charges coming. That's one thing Fitz has clearly signalled. There are more people involved, otherwise he would have stepped away from the table today. If conspiracy is going to be charged, isn't it likely that Libby will be indicted again? I think that's very likely.

4. Yep, Fitz is holding out an Ace with Libby
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 04:50 PM by Jersey Devil
He says to Libby: "Help me or not only will you do time for perjury and obstruction, but also for more serious charges. Help me and maybe you can spend all your weekends at home in an ankle bracelet but you'll still be eating home cooked food and sleeping in your own bed, plus you won't need soap on a rope."

6. Conspiracy!
That's the key. The one charge conspicuously missing today from something which even Fitz said involved more people. But if you're charging only one person, you do not charge him with conspiracy when you have intentions of firming up the case so you can snag all of them.

5. I think you're deluding yourself
It appears this case is going to begin and end with Scooter Libby. Fitzgerald said that his investigation is 99% complete, and that it's highly unlikely they'll be more indictments at this stage.

8. Fine, Fine. Fine.
You disagree. I guess we'll see soon enough.

He did not say 99%. He said the "bulk of the investigation".

So the only thing left is to firm up the conspiracy charges and throw the net around the rest of them, including more charges for Libby.

I can live with that.

There's *NO* way that Fitz keeps the investigation open unless he expects more indictments.

9. If Fitz only handles Scooter, there is enouth brown stuff shoveled up
and turned over that cannot be ingnored by him or someone other attorney/attornies. Someone else is OK also, thoug he seems perfect. It could take a class action lawsuit,,, citizens against PNAC. WHIG, and the White House.

We have forgeries which involves traitorous acts.
We have documents withheld from Congress.
We still have the lie about wmds.
We have torture.
We have denied rights and enless imprisonment.
We have understaffed and undersupplied armies.

We have contrived threats.
We have 9-11.

11. That's a big plate of shit, isn't it.
Well, we may have to be happy with part of the plate of shit bringing down this administration.

If it's the way I suspect, that Fitz is holding conspiracy charges back because he didn't have time to complete that part of the case with an expiring grand jury, this thing is going to go places where it isn't now. Also, conspiracy charges clearly hit Libby *again*. Then, there's still a chance for intelligence law violations. (although I think not)

This thing may be far from over. Conspiracy charges would be very big and could catch *everybody*.
