CNN legal experts are spinning bullshit!! |
|
They say Fitzgerald will keep his case strictly focused on Libby's lies, while the defense will try to confuse and overwhelm the jury by bringing in a shit load of political evidence surrounding the case.
This doesn't make sense to me. Cheney must hide the deceit he peddled to Congress while selling his war. If Libby's lawyers intentionally widen the scope of this trial by admitting "behind the scenes" evidence, Fitzgerald can use this to probe deeper into the possible motives behind Libby's lies. He will be able to cross-examine Cheney/Rove/Bush with even more freedom than otherwise.
These CNN experts forget that this is no ordinary criminal trial. There will be mind boggling political ramifications if Fitzgerald himself gets to the bottom of this Cheney orchestrated illegal war. The only way Cheney will be able to hide the deceit behind his war is by lying under oath repeatedly. Eventually, like all liars, he will trip himself up when his lies start to contradict themselves.
Cheney and Libby could potentially be charged with high treason for intentionally selling Congress their phony case for war. That prospect must chill the bones of every Republican in office.
:woohoo:

1. Notice they don't factor in forged Niger document aspect of the case |
|
as part of their discussion.
These pundits are doing exactly what they've been doing for years now - they look at narrow points that misdirect from the really big picture of the entire case.

2. Can the defense even get those issues in? |
|
What does politics have to do with lying to the FBI and lying to the Grand Jury?

Criminals always lie to hide their motive for their crime.

I'll bet there was a bidding war going on to see who would get Buchanan, who would get this guy or the other.
Pure whoredom.

8. heres's how they could triumph: prove WMDs were in Iraq |
|
in the quantities they claimed. prove the Niger documents were NOT forgeries. Prove Valerie Plame was NOT undercover. Prove Saddam and Al Qaida were in cahoots.
If they could do that, no one would doubt them. They never could, so no one will believe them now.
