I BELIEVE!!!!!! This is far from over.....In Fitzy's own words:
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 05:54 PM by meganmonkey
QUESTION: What can you say about what you're still working on then?

FITZGERALD: I can't. I don't mean that fliply, but the grand jury doesn't give an announcement about what they're doing, what they're looking at, unless they charge an indictment.FITZGERALD: I can tell you that no one wants this thing to be over as quickly as I do, as quickly as Mr. Eckenrode does. I'd like to wake up in my bed in Chicago, he'd like to wake up in his bed in Philadelphia, and we recognize that we want to get this thing done.

I will not end the investigation until I can look anyone in the eye and tell them that we have carried out our responsibility sufficiently to be sure that we've done what we could to make intelligent decisions about when to end the investigation. We hope to do that as soon as possible. I just hope that people will take a deep breath and just allow us to continue to do what we have to do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me repeat:
I just hope that people will take a deep breath and just allow us to continue to do what we have to do.
On what planet does that imply this is over?
5. I believe.
Remember, I. Lewis Libby doesn't just work for the Vice President.
From the beginning of the administration, the source of Libby's power at the White House is that he works both for the Vice President (as Chief of Staff and National Security Affairs Advisor) and the President of the United States (as Assistant to the President).
Rove managed to buy an extra week or so. Pay me now or pay me later. It's all relative. His day is coming and IMO, it will be here soon. Fitz will ultimately nail him to the wall.
Peace.
BTW- Hey Bleever, what do you think about starting another I BELIEVE thread. No time like the present, right?
11. AGREE100%!!!
If Fitz is the investigator his colleagues
tout him as, this is JUST beginning!
And Rove is the tip of the iceberg...
After all, WHO do Rove and the rest of the
rabid hyenas work for???
Hmmm?
Hmmm?
Are we to believe that all of these
things were done behind the backs
of the POTUS and VP?
If so, they are incompetent, as if we didn't already
know that-
Either way, Bush and Cheney are going down.
As in: if they knew, well the implication of outcome
in that scenario is obvious.
If they didn't know, well that doesn't look good either.
It's a lose-lose for Bush and Cheney and the
entire neocon cabal.
23. Fitzmas: the gift that keeps on giving :)
The libs can't lose on this. Even, were Karl Rove to be able to wiggle out of responsibility, the libs have this (as O'Donnell pointed out on Countdown): A TRIAL.
A trial in which the Vice President of the United States and Bush's Brain would both be required to testify, under oath.
So, more indictments or not, it's a win-win! :)
13. Nominated. I believe, this Fitzmas night, that the wheels of justice
have just begun to turn.
If anyone is disappointed that it's only the first White House senior official to be indicted in over a hundred years, I can understand.
But I can also be patient, because after watching Fitzgerald's press conference and learning more about the man and his approach to his job and his respect for and master of the law, I believe that there is no way that he's looked into the barrel of rotten fruit and decided to only throw away the first bad apple.
I believe that the light is faint, but that it is dawn, and the day is coming. It will not be stopped.
Thanks to everyone at DU that makes this a place to strengthen the spirit.
14. I believe that we have been climbing a huge mountain for the last 5 years
I believe we have reached the apex of that mountain, and we have built up so much momentum that the trip down will be pretty intense. But the hardest part is over. We are on our way back home to the valley where peace is a real possibility and where people don't have to live in fear. The road is still long before us, but we will make it.
I believe that our faith is important, however we define it.
And I believe that patience really is a virtue. ;)
"This wasn't done to Valerie Wilson, it was done to all of us. Why was this information going out? Why did he tell Judith Miller three times? Why did he tell Mr. Cooper? What are the shades of gray? … What his motives were I can't tell you. Obstruction keeps us from making the judgments we need to make... anyone who will go before a grand jury and lie and obstruct the truth has committed a serious crime. It will vindicate the public interest in finding out what happened here."
49. Bing!!!
Obstruction keeps us from making the judgments we need to make...
Could it be that our fair Fitz is telling us that there are going to be more obstruction of justice charges. Clearly Scooter is not able, all by himself, from fooling Fitz's entire investigation. After all, he seems to have not fooled him at all. If Fitz is being frustrated by obstruction, it can only mean that Scooter is not the only one doing it. Of course, we all already know this. But for Fitz, he's got a higher calling, a court of law. So the case he's still building has two planks.
First, obstruction of justice. Libby's the first to fall. There will be more.
Second, and I see this as the most important one, is conspiracy. This is the thread that knits it all together. WHIG, Crashcart, Chimp, WMDs, whatever Fitz can tie directly to it. I see a couple of staffers, Rove, and maybe Crashcart. Chimp? Who knows what Fitz has?
Fitz sharply cut off the one conspiracy question today. Was that a "tell"? I was also wondering why there were no conspiracy charges. Duh? You can't have a conspiracy of one and Scooter was the only one charged today. Scooter's conspiracy charges are yet to come along with the rest of the criminals. Rove? He seems like a conspirator to me. Hell, he even looks like one.
54. My .02
I have a feeling that there's more to charge people with, maybe even enough to charge Scooter with more, but since the GJ was expiring, he went for what he could prove now, and what he wanted to charge him with first.
It seems that he said "the bulk of the investigation is done" that it's just a matter of dotting some "i"s and maybe more indictments are on the horizon.
Even if they're not forthcoming, I'll take the first WH official indicted in 161 years as a victory for justice.
Merry Fitzmas, to all and to all a good night.
p.s. I posted this in another thread also, but it seemed right here too.
58. Any one know when the Scooter Libby trial will take place?
I have to believe the results of that trial will be critical
in how far Fitz can take this investigation. If Scooter is
convicted, two things will happen.
First, he will start to sing like a mynah bird facing 30 years
incarceration. Second, it will revive the energy behind the
investigation.
OTOH if Scooter is acquitted of all charges, it may deflate the
investigation and public will lose interest.
