This is the BIG question I need an answer to?
WHY would Libby do it if not to further Chaney's plans to invade Iraq? What else did he have to gain by 'outing' Valerie? Was he JUST being a good soldier or a co-conspirator to the invasion?

1. Is there a difference between being a good soldier and a
co-conspirator?

7. All anyone needs to do is put Fitzgerald's eyes on what the
office of special plans was all about.

The president's most trusted adviser, Mr Cheney, was at the shadow network's sharp end. He made several trips to the CIA in Langley, Virginia, to demand a more "forward-leaning" interpretation of the threat posed by Saddam. When he was not there to make his influence felt, his chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was. Such hands-on involvement in the processing of intelligence data was unprecedented for a vice-president in recent times, and it put pressure on CIA officials to come up with the appropriate results.

8. Iraq was already invaded.
The only rational purpose for outing Plame/BJ&A was to eliminate a continuing, established source of reliable covert intelligence regarding corruption and illicit dealings in South Asia and the Middle East.

For God's sake, guys! Retribution? Junior High School cover story! There's no way in hell they got together and did this out of mere spite! It did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to undermine Wilson's credibility. If anything, the fact that Plame was CIA in this PRECISE AREA OF EXPERTISE lends enormous credibility to Wilson ... credibility he would not otherwise get. They could have done far, far better (vis a vis Wilson) by merely ignoring him!

The objective of their actions was exactly what it accomplished: destroyed a reliable network of nuclear nonproliferation intelligence EXPERTS!

9. Yes--outing Plame because Wilson didn't tow the company line always
seemed a bit like going after a fly with a steamroller. There was more at stake than the yellowcake forgeries. At the same time, they've piled on Wilson endlessly. It was a two-fer.
