"I'm a busy executive, can't remember everything I said" defense:
It doesn't hold water. By this line of reasoning, anyone who is a busy professional of any kind isn't required to tell the truth.

All they have to do when confronted with their lies is hold up their "busy executive" card.

2. That defense doesn't work.
Ask former US District Judge Walter Nixon.

3. That's How They Avoid Perjury
If they say "no I never did" and evidence comes up to the contrary, they are busted. If they say, "I don't remember" the worst you can say is they are incompetent.

Think Reagan, Iran-Contra. Maybe he was trying to hide treason w/o getting busted for lying, or, maybe he really couldn't remember.

4. I don't see this flying
There has already been much discussion and comment on how Libby was OBSESSED with Wilson, watched every time Wilson appeared on television, read everything he wrote. When one is obsessed with something, detail is NOT forgotten.

In trying to float this very weak defense, it only re-affirms for me that Fitzgerald has a VERY strong case and they know it.

5. That's why reporters take notes.
Reporters take notes so as to not rely on their memories.

Sadly for Libby, in this case, it is precisely reporters notes he DOESN'T want any notice taken of.

6. If a busy executive had a bad memory they would keep notes or not be an
executive. Even with a stellor memory most executives keep notes as reminders. They have to. They can not afford to miss an important function. Either he has an excellent memory or he keeps notes. Let's see the notes..
