It's all smoke and mirrors. NBC Sunday morning programs.
Russert and Tweety have packed their panels with pseudo journalists (RW hacks). The focus of both these Sunday morning shows have been sins of past presidents and how Libby did NOT out a CIA agent. The journalists filibuster the time they are given to talk about everything under the sun EXCEPT the news events of the past few days and how this will effect us "we the people". I can see no difference between the answers of theses so called journalists and republican politicians, both read from the same script. This is a sad day for America.

One of the most important facts of the investigation was how the media was used. Was used to sell a war, was used to do the dirty work to smear a critic of the war, was used to out a CIA agent. Now they are being used to bury these very facts.

1. Do the DEMS ever use the phrase OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD
on the air when being interviewed? Maybe more people would get it, if they did!

It should be a TALKING POINT!

Nobody likes to be fooled!

2. Yes, I had to leave the room when that one reporter on MTP...
started to prop up Judy Miller and complain about how the first amendment rights were violated. They bitch about the protection of the press being violated... that was so 2 months ago. But now that we're on the subject of protections, where do they stand on the protection of a CIA agents identity?? At what point do you stop covering up the fact that the press was used as a pawn to commit treason??

6. William Safire is a dried-up, withered old prune.
He went on about how Judy Miller "suffered" in jail. He insists that President Bush would be doing better in the polls if everyone would stop talking about the Plame "non-crime" and instead focused on all the wonderful things that are happening in Iraq.

The Stephanopolous show was much better than "Press the Meat" this morning. Steph had Sen. Cornyn in a corner and wouldn't let him spew his talking points unchallenged. He cited today's ABC/Wash Post poll that has Bush at his lowest approval in the poll (39%) as proof that Americans are abandoning their faith in this administration, despite Cornyn insisting that Bush could turn all of this around with a simple SCOTUS nomination.

I screamed at the television more than usual this morning.

15. Safire should have come with a
"media whore" warning label across his forehead. His shilling for the chimp was painful to watch. Would love a look at his bank statements to see how many checks from the WH he's cashed.

3. Thank goodness for football!
If I had to hear one more line of bullshit from these hacks--I'd have surely gone mad! All morning all you hear is "How will this President recover?" You'd think the idiots would learn.

Peace.

... to get on the same page with bullshit talking points.

It was staggering to me, listening to the Republican senators this morning, how they all said the exact same thing, over and over and over. The talking point of the day is attack Joe Wilson, and convince everyone that Plame wasn't outed at all, since Fitzgerald hasn't charged anyone with that.

It's especially sickening to see decent lawyers, like Lindsey Graham, insist that the crimes are minor.

You've got a great site, Press... I visit it every day. :-) It reminds me of the late, great website Media Whores Online.

5. It wasn't worth the bother to watch. Harry Reid and Lanny Davis were
both good, but that's two against an Army of PsyOps. :-(

11. I thought I was jaded about the media, until I watched NBC this morning.
And I must say I was shocked by the filler they were passing off as news. Tweety was using Nixon and Clinton to use up his thirty minutes. Then Russert used most of his time, on a time line of with clips to show, what had happened in the pass that brought us to today, with almost nothing that happened this week.

12. the hope that springs eternal

As journalism it's about trying to give people the counterargument (such as it is) to the problem Fitzgerald has ladled up.

The answer seems to be "hear no evil, see no evil, hope your darndest that Fitzgerald doesn't have half the goods that the indictment makes obvious he has." Magical thinking.

If that's all they got I don't see why to worry. What bothered me more than the denial was Safire trying to talk up a Republican "rebound" early next year. There's no reality or evidence in the detailed polling to base that on. The best they can realistically hope to do is hold things at roughly this level of teetering on the edge of the cliff for while longer. The 'argument' Safire tried to make for it was pretty deranged and senile...it's time for him to pack it up.

13. Democrats need to wake up. We are being "swift-boated" here.
This is a serious frickin problem. We are either, being excluded from network panels, or we are choosing not to participate in them. Either choice will not win us any elections. Where or the boots on the ground from our side?

16. It's just so frustrating.
I'm here shouting at the TV. See we went to war on a lie from the very people, we elected to protect us! They used ever dirty trick they could, including the media to persuade use that we can't wait for proofs, because the proof is going to be a mushroom cloud. This is when they KNEW that no danger of this happening was possible. None nada.

I now know a CIA agents name. What about Valerie Plame? What about Valerie Plame's career? My goodness, her life before this was girls dream. The women's James Bond. What a role model. Her life was stolen from her. Where is the outrage from the media from the democrats about this?

Why isn't the democrats on these shows, pointing out these very simple to understand facts?

19. I gave up long ago getting any news
from the corporate controlled tv.

I feel much more hopeful and at ease now, you really won't learn anything new or worthwhile by watching, it will only raise your blood pressure listening to the spin of the day which will be 99% lies and misdirection.

These days I watch the Daily Show and CSPAN every once in a while, I get the rest from Air America and the net.

The Dems are a big part of the problem, very few have even denounced the occupation of Iraq for the sham that it is and few have spoken up on the stolen elections, most of the Dems IMHO are no better than Repub moderates, they are most certainly not an opposition party.

I will never again cast a vote for any of these so called Dems.
