Cheney cancels local hunting trip

Vice President Dick Cheney has canceled a hunting trip planned for this weekend in Dutchess County, a source familiar with the vice president's plans said Friday evening.

Cheney had made plans to fly into Stewart Airport in New Windsor for a Sunday visit, the source said.

The hunting expedition was canceled hours after Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis ``Scooter'' Libby Jr., was indicted by a special prosecutor in the Valerie Plame scandal.

It would have been Cheney's second hunting trip and third visit to Dutchess County since 2001. He was expected to visit the Orvis Sandanona shooting grounds in Millbrook on this trip, a source said.
