how does this HELP Rove?
Right after talking to Matt Cooper, Rove talked to a White House staffer, Adam Levine, and didn't mention the conversation with Cooper. Supposedly this little tidbit is one of the things Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin, brought to Fitzgerald at the eleventh hour.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9865842/site/newsweek/

The article says: "The Levine talk was arguably helpful to one of Luskin's arguments: that, as a senior White House official, Rove dealt with a wide range of matters and might not remember every conversation he has had with journalists."

:wtf:

It seems to me that Rove's not mentioning the conversation to Levine is much more suggestive of his trying to keep it secret than of his forgetting all about it five minutes later.

Rove's failure to tell a staffer that he just outed a CIA agent just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would give Fitzgerald pause.

1. Such fuzzy logic is a sure sign of panic.
Either that, or Rove is so accustomed to the MSM buying that kind of nonsense that he thought Fitz would as well.

7. After The Questioning the WH is going to take this week over Rove
still being part of the (corrupt or dangerously incompetent) team...The WH is going to WISH that Rove had been
indicted last Friday... The heat is still very much still on.
I give even money that more sh#t hits the fan in less than 2 weeks
time.

Reuters: Rove in focus amid calls for White House shakeup
http://today.reuters.com/News/newsArticle.aspx?type=politicsNews&storyID=2005-10-30T173120Z_01_KRA572753_RTRUKOC_0_US-BUSH-LEAK.xml

Snip:Rove remains under investigation in the probe into who leaked the identity of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame, whose diplomat husband is a prominent Iraq-war critic. The White House's credibility has been hurt by disclosures that both Rove and Libby leaked the woman's identity, despite earlier official denials attributed to the two men.

Although Rove has been the chief architect of Bush's political career, lawmakers questioned whether he has become an obstacle to Bush's recovery from problems including public opposition to the Iraq war, a botched response to Hurricane Katrina and the withdrawal of Harriet Miers' nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court under fire from the right and left.

2. I think it is the most lame and ridiculous excuse ever....
I can't imagine why that would give Fitz pause. To me it makes him look more guilty.

3. I will speculate that Rove gave Fitzgerald something much more
substantive which Fitzgerald is investigating further and this little throw-away is to try and cover that fact in vain hopes that people won't figure Rove squealed.

4. Also, why should we believe the times and dates on e-mails in
a White House that lies about everything? They just threw a bunch of stuff at Fitzgerald at the last minute and would have swiftboated him as an overzealous partisan persecutor of innocent Repukes if he charged Rove without refuting it all in meticulous detail.

5. Rove exposes the name of a secret agent to a newsman and then ...
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 05:38 PM by Jim__
five minutes later he doesn't even remember it. I guess such acts of espionage are just run of the mill events in Rove's life. Sure makes me feel better knowing he has full access to classified information.

But he wasn't indicted. So why should bush remove him from this top secret job?

6. Yes, it is lame beyond belief
It is either pure desperation, or re-direction.

8. I just dont understand....
why this evidence would give Fitz any kind of pause in indicting Rove. I mean Rove was revealing Plame's identity to Cooper and Novak and probably other reporters....this does not make any sense to me. Fitz should have pushed aside this email from Rove as nonsense but instead he is giving it the attention it does not deserve. I think many here are being fooled by Fitz...he is one of them!

Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 06:26 PM by emulatorloo

11. hard to buy Fitz is one of them 'cause the damage is rather big and
if this were the case, he would have just come up with a report or not pursue the investigation this far.

Maybe Rove gave Cheney up...

12. he has to know Karl Rove
to know that the day he outs a CIA agent is just another day to him.

The day he went after McCain, or went after Ann Richards, or Clarke, or O'Neil or whoever got in their way isn't something he has reservations about after the fact.
