NO CRIME (spin) NO CRIME (spin) NO CRIME (spin) |
|
For CRYING OUT LOUD, every Sunday talk show I turned on, no matter WHERE IN THE PROGRAM, had some SPINSTER trying to spin this thing for the WHITE HOUSE!
I couldn't watch a single one more than 2 minutes before becoming so DISGUSTED with the completely BLATANT attempts to brush this off as a NON-CRIME!
Many talk show guests were saying, "Libby should not be charged because the original crime was not found to have happened."
I KEPT SCREAMING AT MY T.V.: "JUST BECAUSE FITZGERALD DIDN'T CHARGE ANYONE WITH THE LEAK DOESN'T MEAN THE CRIME WASN'T COMMITTED! WHAT A BUNCH OF #%$#@ ASSHOLES!"
I am completely frustrated and I hope the average person sees this CRAP for what it is!

3. They are given their talking points, and their job is to repeat them. |
|
And yes, I think people will see beyond it.

5. Perjury is an underlying crime as is obstruction of justice |
|
and lying to a federal agent. Cisneros' ex-mistress was prosecuted for lying on a loan application I believe (could be wrong, but that is my understanding).

8. Not even UNDERLYING--perjury and obstruction are CRIMES |
|
CRIMES. In and of themselves, CRIMES. Plain and simple, CRIMES. No factors in mitigation need apply.
You do not lie to the Feds. You do not lie to a Grand Jury.
Trying to spin this shit out like it ain't really important is horseshit. And ya know what? It ain't working, either.
They outed a covert agent. They compromised national security. They committed a CRIME.
There's no way to minimize it. They can try, but it does not cut it.

6. I personally like the theory |
|
that Irving L. "Loose Scooter" Libbey was lying to the grand jury about his involvement in order to protect himself from no crime at all, and that, most importantly, absolutely nobody else in the administration was involved. "Loose Scooter" Libbey put himself in jeopardy for 30 years in the slammer over nothing and nobody. Got it. Good theory.

10. Anyone who doesn't know, I just tell them |
|
"Well, before someone leaked the identity of a CIA operative, we had a national security asset which tracked which countries were buying WsMD equipment. After her cover was blown, we lost that asset. You are not safer now. But I say we let the guy who did it go free, don't you agree?"
Most people's minds freeze.

14. They're playing the tempest in the teapot card |
|
They say; Joseph Wilson lied about Niger, Valerie was a secretary and Rove is still there with the pretzeldunce out of the loop. I sure hope that Rover gets his due and all these spinmeisters get put out. They can not be that ignorant or can they?
Libby lied to the Grand Jury and should have known better. This means he was shielding something. The Truth Is Not In Them!

16. I think it's a good thing. |
|
I've watched a number of the same shows, and I think it is a giggle that they are taking a weak stance. It might help to use the campaign model, where there are three groups: 1- those who agree with you; 2- those who disagree with you; and 3- the undecided. The talk shows are not likely to change the opinions of anyone on DU, or from the White House fan club. So let's think in terms of "mainstream America." Pretend they are a jury of sorts .... the jury of public opinion. Who are they going to be more impressed with: Patrick Fitzgerald or Sean Hannity?
