What was so special about Valerie Plame? She was not only an undercover CIA agent. She was also an expert in WMD during a time when we need those experts the most. People like Valerie Plame are silent heroes. They do not seek glory or rewards for their hidden work. They risk their lives for this country.
The message now to all CIA agents from the Bush administration: Don’t cross us. This administration didn’t just risk Valerie Plame’s life, other CIA agents, her family and how intelligence organizations work. It risked this nation’s security. And for what? It was to protect their flimsy case for going to a war where over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis have died.
This was a betrayal of the highest order. The outing of Valerie Plame in order to retaliate against an op-ed piece written by her husband not only shows how thin-skinned this administration is…it also shows the lengths they are willing to go against anyone who dares to speak out even if it weakens our security.
We as Americans are owed the truth and an explanation for such a horrendous crime. Those responsible should be punished.

3. If you like this sentence, PM me. |

It was for the nefarious purpose of shielding their flimsy case for entering a war in which over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis have died.

4. Very good, very concise... |
|
I would add, "...such a horrendous crime that has threatened the security of every American." In order to relate the reader to the crime.
But that may be superflous. Otherwise it is perfect.

"It was to protect their flimsy case for going to a war where over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis have died."
to "It was to protect their flimsy case for going to a war which would ultimately cost the lives of over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis."
"The outing of Valerie Plame in order to retaliate against an op-ed piece written by her husband not only shows how thin-skinned this administration is…it also shows the lengths they are willing to go against anyone who dares to speak out even if it weakens our security."
to (just ellipses to semi-colon) "The outing of Valerie Plame in order to retaliate against an op-ed piece written by her husband not only shows how thin-skinned this administration is; it also shows the lengths they are willing to go against anyone who dares to speak out even if it weakens our security."

8. Good overall...my suggested changes: |

"She was not only an undercover CIA agent. She was also an expert in WMD during a time when we need those experts the most."
Should be one sentence with a comma like this:
She was not only an undercover CIA agent, she was also an expert in WMD during a time when we needED those experts the most.
"What was so special about Valerie Plame?"
I think you could leave this out and just let it read:
"People like Valerie Plame are silent heroes. They do not seek glory or rewards for their hidden work. They risk their lives for this country."
I would also change this (see below):
"The message now to all CIA agents from the Bush administration: Don’t cross us. This administration didn’t just risk Valerie Plame’s life, other CIA agents, her family and how intelligence organizations work. It risked this nation’s security. And for what? It was to protect their flimsy case for going to a war where over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis have died.
Try:
The message to all CIA agents from the Bush administration was: Don’t cross us. By employing this threatening approach, the administration didn’t just risk Valerie Plame’s life. The Bush Administratio risked the lives of other CIA agents, the Plame family and this nation’s security.
The question that begs an answer is why the Bush Administration felt that they should risk national security to protect their flimsy case for going to a war. The only logical conclusion one can draw is that they were seeking profit from this war--a war where over 2000 of our military and untold thousands of Iraqis have died. A war that never should have happened and which has robbed the US of military protection on its own shores as well of billion of tax dollars.
The outing of Valerie Plame's CIA status was a betrayal of the highest order. We as Americans are owed the truth and an explanation for such a horrendous crime. Those responsible should be punished.
