Poll: Only 45% believe Libby's actions were illegal ....
<snip>
Clearly, most Americans believe Libby did something wrong in connection with the case concerning the alleged outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame. While Libby was not charged with any crimes specific to the leak per se, he was indicted on five felony counts concerning the truthfulness of statements he made to FBI agents and of his testimony before the grand jury hearing the case. Albeit a plurality, fewer than half (45%) believe Libby's actions in the case were illegal, while 31% say they were unethical but not illegal. Only 8% say he did nothing wrong.

So there you have it, apparently 39% of the sample think its ok to lie and make false statements to investigators while under oath. I wonder what else this 39% think its "Ok" to do... cheat on their taxes?, lie to their children and spouses?, spread false rumors about their neighbors or maybe even steal from them ? For once I agree with conservatives, the morality of some in this country is in the crapper. Unfortunately the ones making those very statements are the ones that apparently need some "morality" training themselves.

2. And some of these are the same people who thought that it
was an impeachable offense when a recent president lied about getting a bj while under oath. Repeat after me: hypocrites!

7. millions are chronically stuipid
38% is millions of well armed very dumb sheeple. These idiots make me ashamed to admit I'm American. Infact if I travel overseas, I'll try to say I'm from Canada so people don't think I'm a redneck from Texas.

6. ONLY 8% think he did nothing wrong
So, that means 92% have recognized what Libby did was wrong. Seeing as this is a Gallop poll which is infamous for covering for the bush admin, having a poll that says 92% understand that what was done was wrong is excellent, very bad news for the bush cabal, imo.

8. Can that 45% define Libby actions?
As well as why outing an undercover CIA agent is illegal?

11. That 45% needs "illegal" defined for them
Because they clearly have no understanding of the word. They think "illegal" is equivalent to "immoral," and their particular morals are such that they think it's acceptable for this administration to use any evil means possible to further their agenda.

This is a nation of laws. It's against the law to lie to a grand jury under oath. It's against the law to obstruct justice. Therefore, Libby's actions are illegal! The legality isn't meted by whether or not the ignorant repugs think it's "OK".

12. Damn! I missed a call
from Gallup yesterday! Got off the treadmill and checked caller ID, and there it was, call from Gallup! Of course, they probably would have found a way to NOT COUNT my vote, but maybe I could have said something to "give them pause".......

13. I believe alot of that attitude comes from the great "Evangelical"
movement. :sarcasm:
These people are brainwashed every Sunday about how great and wonderful they are; how THEY are the "true believers" and God loves them no matter what. All they have to do is ask forgiveness every Sunday and their reservation in Heaven is waiting. It kind of reminds me of a saying people in my hometown used to have about Catholics going to church on Saturday evening. "They would hurry up and go confess on Saturday night so they could go out and party afterward and sleep in on Sunday."

14. It's still a majority of those WITH AN OPINION.
15% had no opinion, meaning they admitted not knowing enough to say. Assuming they did their homework, it's probably fair to say they'd also split similarly to those with an opinion.
