My favorite GOP spin from this weekend...
Libby was a lone gunman and Fitzgerald didnt indict on original charge. Do David Brooks, William Safire, Bill Kristol, Fox News not know what perjury and obstruction of justice do to a case? I almost put my foot through the TV when no one challenged these knuckleheads. My other favorite line is no one will remember this in 6 months. Guess their having crow for Thanksgiving.

1. Exactly!
Fitz tried to explain that at the press conf.

He couldn't get at the TRUTH of what happened (the underlying crime) because of the PERJURY (lies) and OBSTRUCTION.

He can't indict on the underlying crime if he's being stone-walled and LIED TO by the principals.

That's why the perjury and obstruction are such serious charges.

2. I was ranting about that too
My new plasma teevee cost way too much to elvis, but my trigger finger was still itchy.

That "not the original charge" bit was definitely THE talking point this weekend, even on the local newz.

3. You know it's bad when they all come on in unison and...
pronounce a story dead. If it were truly dead they wouldn't be talking about it period.

5. Yeah or the story doesnt matter...
If it doesnt matter, why are you talking about it and why is it on the cover of every newspaper and the lead on every channel.

6. Don't forget "lieing to reporters is not a crime"
Knowingly lieing to reporters who will put in print and speak the lie to the American public is so deeply, morally WRONG!!! But they kept saying "it's not a crime" while they snickered.

7. I particularly enjoyed seeing both pieces of spin combined.
'Libby didn't commit a crime, and he was operating all on is own anyway so neither Cheney nor Rove are implicated'.

It's like, 'mom- I didn't break the window and besides I was trying to hit the ball the other direction'.

8. 'Libby was operating on his own' is almost laughable.
So he and Cheney were just discussing Valerie Plame, apropos of nothing?

The repukes will try any stupid talking point just to see if it will stick, I guess.

9. Yeah! If you hide your crimes well, under a cover of lies,
then you're not a criminal!

How very republican of them to think of it this way.

10. These pundits were "preaching to their choir"... everyone else...
knows it's spin and dismisses it. Bush isn't recovering from this. And Fitzgerald made it clear (esp. when you see what he did in Illinois) that this isn't over.
