Why didn't Cooper/Judy Miller speak up when McCLELLAN said Rove/Libby
didn't leak when both knew they did? This question was asked on PBS's NOW. Both reporters could have stood up and said it wasn't true because Matt Cooper had spoken to Rove and Miller had spoken to Libby so they KNEW that McClellan was wrong.

Cooper said he was protecting his source, but Michael Isikoff said that reporters do not owe their sources protection. They owe their readers and the American people the truth and they failed.

5. Honestly, Isikoff sounded credible on this program.
I've read posts today saying bad things about this Newsweek reporter. Maybe he's living a double life?

3. Exactly right. Both were at least cooperating with the WH...
...if not actively participating.

7. Why didn't Russert? Or Matthews? Because they're well-paid and they value
that position alot more than they value honesty or integrity.

8. If they had stood up, the public would have greater faith
in the "free press" than is present today. It's not just about 'protecting a source'. These two particular "sources" are high government officials in the White House...and they were LIEING. This should have been exposed at the onset of it all!

9. Federeal Investigation serious matter....
Someone will be charged. All these people know better than to get involved with a federal investigation. They all fought it all the way to the Supreme court, even when they knew they were involved in a crime.

10. You're likely spot-on
If one of these high profile writers stood up and said that's not where I got my info s/he would be subpoenaed so fast heads would spin. They hid it by claiming privilege and only revealed where info came from as a result of the federal investigation. Gives me a lot of confidence in the people who write for the masses.
