Cheney kicks Addington AND Hannah upstairs.
:wtf:

According to Josh Marshall:

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2005_10_30.php#006898

The Vice President today appointed David S. Addington of Virginia to be the chief of staff to the Vice President. The Vice President also appointed John P. Hannah of the District of Columbia as the Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs.

Mr. Addington has served in the position of Counsel to the Vice President since January 20, 2001. In prior Federal service, Mr. Addington served at the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Defense, the White House, and four congressional committees. In the private sector, he headed a multicandidate political action committee, practiced law with two firms, and headed the law department of a trade association. Mr. Addington is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the Duke University School of Law.

Mr. Hannah has served on the national security staff in the Office of the Vice President since March 2001 and is currently the Principal Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs. In prior Federal service, Mr. Hannah served at the Department of State. In the private sector, Mr. Hannah practiced law in Washington, D.C. and served as a senior official of a Washington-based foreign policy research organization. Mr. Hannah is a graduate of Duke University and the Yale Law School.

1. Just hearing about this on Thom Hartmann
:banghead:

Cheney can't bring in someone from the outside. He's gotta keep the circle tight and maintain control.

3. Does this mean Hannah was not the "aspen that turned"?
Why was everyone saying he was being flipped a couple of weeks ago again?

5. If WE know (or suspect),
then certainly Cheney knows (or suspects). Only other possibility: dick knows that the entire ship is going down, so he's just rearranging the deck chairs in the meantime.

7. I think he's just moving the neocons around
Both Addington & Hannah are strong neoconservatives who can continue Cheney's policies. Addington might even be worse than Scooter Libby. When John Bolton moved from the State Dept. to the UN, they just appointed another rabid anti-treaty neocon in his place (Bob Joseph). It sometimes feels useless to try to get rid of these officials, cause another one will just spring up in his place. It's like, well, aspens connected at the root; if you cut one down, the network will just grow anew.

made him sound most unappetizing indeed. :puke:

11. I think it was from Raw Story, now that you mention it.
Did the Daily News have a similar story? It was all over DU one day a couple of weeks ago.

8. So are they *both* getting the ** full salary** that goes with the job
cuz as a taxpayer who is paying for that salary, it would piss me off to find out that we are paying two people to do the same job if they are BOTH pulling in the full salary that goes with that single job.

Guess they figure the indictments are going to start flying so they better have the back up cronie already IN the office of the indicted person??
