Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 02:56 AM by texpatriot2004
can't win...you know their message sucks, their campaigning was all wrong and weak, they aren't organized, they can't raise funds, they don't have a coherent message, they aren't unified, they can't get the "moral values" voters, they aren't religious enough, they are too religious, they aren't left enough, they aren't right enough, they aren't moderate enough...blah, blah, blah...

I am so sick of hearing this rubbish. It's all a lie. It's convenient though they steal the "elections" and then make like it's all our fault.

So, we'll see if tomorrow will be any different. I hope it is but I somehow doubt it will be since they are using the same broken voting system that has been used to steal the last two (or three) "elections" depending on when you start counting.

3. I want to feel hopeful about tomorrow...
...but it's hard not to feel pessimistic about our screwed up voting system.

4. Yeah, I am sorry for the negative perspective...I just don't see it
as being different.

I hope that I am wrong.

7. Here's something even more depressing (LOL)
In my state, just last Friday a group of people received letters from the election's office stating an individual was refuting their physical addresses as valid. The addresses were very much valid, and on investigation the "individual" was found to be associated with the local GOP.

It was in the news - and VERY depressing.

8. Yeah. They're up to their dirty tricks. Where are you? Will those
people with the valid addresses get to vote?

9. Yes, they will!
WA state.

An alert resident tracked down the GOP "accuser" and got the story in the local papers. At least it gets people buzzing and asking themselves, "is MY vote being counted?"

17. We had some of the same tactics here in VA.
Apparently the voting registrars are conducting an investigation to determine the origin of these "notices". They weren't sent via mail (probably because that gets the P.O. involved, and they're very fussy about fraud, etc. in the US Mail). These were hung on doorknobs.

5. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the Repugs saying it ...
but the DEMOCRATS buy into this ridiculous lie! They keep looking for ways to change their image and find a way to appeal to conservative voters instead of looking for ways to have the votes counted! :grr:

13. Maybe they will use that Dixiecrat excuse, but it's a little too far north
for that. Maybe they will use the Pacifist Amish voted for the war party excuse, but it is a little too far south for that. I wonder what new and improved lie they will use to justify the rigged election. How will they explain all the polls showing a Dem will win but a repuke wins anyway? Too bad we don't have accurate vote counts. I miss Democracy.

14. I wonder why some of you even vote.
Maybe you don't? If you think its fixed, why do you vote?

Me...I'll stay "naive" and keep trying. In my county we are picking up seats.

I think some people just enjoy the hand-wringing, pearl-clutching drama queen routine.

22. Guess what? We not only vote, but we go out into the streets regularly
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 09:16 PM by meganmonkey
Generalizations are bad, no matter who is making them. "And why aren't they out in the streets"

Who is they? People who try to keep election reform in the forefront? People who like to remind others the reality of our election problems? Well count me in.

I vote. I voted tonight for a millage renewal. That's all that was on my ballot. But I voted.

I will ACT as though our deMOCKracy has integrity, and maybe if everyone acted that way it could have integrity. Maybe if more people thought about the fact that the vast majority of our votes are counted by extremely partisan, politically-connected companies with software that no one can examine, that the SOSs in electorally improtant states are partisans who work on the campaigns of certain candidates of a certain party, those people would be outraged and help us get our election system repaired, and get our real democracy back. But we'll keep working on it with or without your help.

I suppose the fact that I have travelled to DC three times in the last 2 years for protests and civil disobedience, and gone to about a dozen events in Michigan and Ohio to protest the war and to demand a recount in Ohio qualifies me as a "hand-wringing, pearl-clutching drama queen"?

...Schwarzenegger is very unpopular & so is his "special election", so we'll see what happens. A lot of people are saying they will vote "no" on all the propositions, including me.

18. I think you've nailed it.
In fact, they didn't even wait till after the elections to start with that crap. It's all over the place: "can the democrats find their voice", blah blah blah.

I personally don't care if a person votes democrat because they see a good message/plan in the candidate--or because they just hate the hell out of these bastards who've stolen power. As long as they DO IT.
