Somewhere, a few years ago, I read a reliable source that it was not Saddam doing the gassing because the gas attributed to him was different from what he had. Anyone else remember this. It quoted a Pentagon source.

4. Doesn't the CIA dispute that Saddam gassed the Kurds?

It is possible that he did - since Rumsfeld sold him the gas, but I am fairly certain the CIA says it is unclear whether the gassing was by Saddam or by Iran. Those poor people were caught between two governments that didn't want them.

There is a documentary at RAINews24 that is so heart-wrenching I have been unable to watch in entirety. I have debated about posting here, it is graphic. It has been posted at DKos, obviously it has had hundreds of views and comments. For some reason, I am unable to link, but it can be googled. If any part of this video was shown in the US the way it has been shown around the world, the evil empire would all be hanging from the nearest tree.

However, I would imagine the pain suffered by the people that were napalmed was extreme...at least until it burned off the 3rd layer of skin--then it doesn't hurt anymore.
